“Doug Hoffman, 59, is a local accountant backed by tea-party activists who has jumped into the race declaring himself the real conservative.”

Well if he is, let’s go with him! Enough of these Snowe jobs...

With the likes of Lindsey Graham whom the GOP would give money to I say no thanks to donating to the GOP. I will send money directly to the Conservative candidates.

Someone needs to tell them that we want to choose our candidates.

If the constituents are against them then I’d say that they are LESS likely to win... but, hey, what place does logic/cause-and-effect have here?

If the RINOs don't get out of the way voluntarily, we'll get them out of the way involuntarily.

GOP is making a huge mistake thinking that these Tea Partiers will automatically vote for the R because of Obama.

The leadership is just completely out of touch, still chasing after that phony "moderate" vote.

It doesn’t matter what “they” want. It is the people who ulimately decide.

I don’t care what party they are in, I will vote for honesty and preservation of the constitution and the bill of rights.

The RINOs let us down during the Bush terms.

"But they're also waging war on some candidates hand-picked by GOP leaders as the most likely to win."

Damn right we're waging war on some candidates hand picked by GOP leaders. Screw the GOP leaders. We will pick our own candidates and if the GOP "leaders" don't like it they will find that they aren't gonna be "leaders" much longer. They will lose Republican registrations for it. The leaders are not supposed to pick the candidates, the people are. When did this idea become so foreign???

Nice puff piece on Scozzafava. Is this your new RINO hero to worship or are you just hoping to get ACORN on board for Slick Willard’s next run?

My money goes to the candidate that I believe will rip DC a new one!

End of story.

"Hand-picked by GOP leaders"? ____________________________________________________

This has been the problem, folks, they are administrators, as far as I'm concerned, not some sort of enlightened nobiity!

The "GOP leaders" need to get back down to earth and START LISTENING TO US!

Republican party hacks might be good for the party, but not the people.

A housefull of Mr Smiths wouldn’t bother me a bit.

The rise of conservative "tea party" activists around the country has created a dilemma for Republicans

Yes indeed. Good thing. Trying to save the country and the Constitution can certainly annoy Republicans like John Cornyn. Keep it up.

This is rich! Those idiots in power in the GOP just don’t get it. It’s a NEW DAY and WE THE PEOPLE will NOT follow the powers that be in WDC.....we will LEAD the powers that be in WDC. If you don’t prove yourself to be a true constitutionalist, a conservative in every sense of the word, don’t bother to run.

GOP Lady, you might be amazed to know that I score high in the 95th percentile, JUST LIKE GEORGE BUSH! We are not stupid, and we are not children.

I've been around on FREE REPUBLIC for a long time now and I've found damned few dummies in the ranks.

We are free Americans, and we intend to remain so, Damn the RINOs!

No more RINO’s. All they do is pander and help the Rats or look the other way while our beloved country is being turned into Venezuela.
