Robert Reich advocated in detail the cutting off of funds to elder patients and the lower funding of medical research, fully accepting that more people would die. Newsbusters quotes him:
"We're going to have to, if you're very old, we're not going to give you all that technology and all those drugs for the last couple of years of your life to keep you maybe going for another couple of months. It's too expensive...so we're going to let you die."
Reich just claims he is "being honest" and that he is. "Let them eat cake" is now joined by "Let you die."
How old is Reich?

There is health care rationing in countries with socialized medicine. They have a shortage of medical equipment, such as kidney dialisis machines, and there are committees that decide who will and who won't get life saving treatment.
That's going to happen here. If you have a handicapped child, or are old, or conservative, you are going to be denied expensive health care procedures.
He is definitely one of the bad guys.

The program started off in the hole and it has kept going that way. What makes it worse is that both parties have misappropriated the $$$ to paper over bad decisions or a lack of leadership on spending and taxes.
If you look at today’s situation we are facing an unemployment level that is going to be high for years to come. That means lower income taxes and more deficits.
Lastly, when they did their planning for SS the idea was that we wouldn’t live much past the retirement age. As we have advanced in our ability to live longer we are demanding more health care and more SS payments that were never budgeted for.
It should never have started to begin with....

What’s serious is that people of all ages are taking steps to protect and defend themselves.

I agree but what evidence is there that the GOP is remotely interested in making a real effort to oust Obama and his filthy street thugs in Congress? The Republicans appear to be quite comfortable in the carefree role of minority incumbency. After all, look at all the boring meetings and hearings they don't even have to go to.
But why stop there? Let’s have a panel in charge of who lives or dies, but we’ll include the whole population and not just those “useless” oldies who just get in the way. I can’t wait until Reich turns seventy and needs some sort of treatment or medicine to keep going. We’ll put ole Bob in front of the death panel, and let them decide whether Bob lives or dies. I guarantee you, he won’t like it. “Hey guess what Bob, the panel has decided that your life is useless, we’re going to have you terminated.” And since Reich is practically worthless, who could argue with their decision.
These “ruling class” wannabes need to understand that no “ruling class” in history has every tried to rule “serfs” as well armed as we are.

When you look at it from your perspective, Reich’s statement is actually quite brave, because he’ll be among the first on any list of disgruntled boomers who are cut off from health care.
