Robert Reich's cold honesty ("You're old, It's too expensive... so we're going to let you die.")
American Thinker ^ | 10/15/2009

Posted on 10/14/2009 10:43:50 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Robert Reich advocated in detail the cutting off of funds to elder patients and the lower funding of medical research, fully accepting that more people would die. Newsbusters quotes him:

"We're going to have to, if you're very old, we're not going to give you all that technology and all those drugs for the last couple of years of your life to keep you maybe going for another couple of months. It's too expensive...so we're going to let you die."

Reich just claims he is "being honest" and that he is. "Let them eat cake" is now joined by "Let you die."

The strategy is to make the insurance industry think that they will make more money if we go with Obamacare. In actuality, the insurance industry is cutting their own throat. The insurance industry needs people to insure to drive their revenue stream. The government is going to take people away into the public system, causing that revenue stream to go away.

Insurance companies use that revenue stream from premium payments for investments. It is these investments that generates new wealth for the country. Part of that wealth enables insurance companies to pay for the very expensive procedures that older patients will incur. Without the investments, insurance companies would not be able to afford doing what they are doing now. They would have to ration care. And that rationing of care is what the Feds will do because they are not into the investment portion of the business. They are into money printing at our expense. And they will not be able to print enough money to cover what will happen when the Boomers take to the hospital beds. The insurance companies could have if such things as tort reform and less regulations were done instead of throwing the baby out with the bathwater—and the elderly.

This is probably why we haven’t heard from Robert Reich lately.

Any trolls from flag.gov take note of this:

If 0bama and his goons decide that it is their prerogative to off me, I plan to take a hell of a lot of them with me.

Just a few encouraging words about socialized medicine from your friendly socialist neighbor to the north.

Since I smoked for many years in my dark past, I have somewhat weak lungs when faced with colds and flu. On a friend's recommendation, I went to my local healthcare provider to obtain a "free" anti-pneumonia shot. I was REFUSED, since I was 5 years short of the age 65 requirement for this type of preventative care. I told them about my weak lungs and asked if I could pay cash for the shots. Nope, you're not old enough. So I drove back home. I plan to get one "down south" this winter.

Makes you sort of feel all warm and cozy, doesn't it?

.....The government doesn’t collect enough taxes to foot the bill for the SS and Medicare expenditures....

Actually, they did. They just stole from the trust funds to pay for other programs.

And given the lack of younger people to “support” the “dependent” older people (due to lower birth rates), there will be enough jobs. In fact, we need older people to stay healthy as long as possible and to work, or our country will decline like Western Europe. Countries that don’t care about the lives of their citizens like the UK and the Netherlands decline and become muslim, and they deserve to decline!!!!

We don’t need to grow replacement parts. There’s more to anti-aging research than that, especially development of new drugs. Just keep allowing older people to get joint replacements and stents, so that they can have long health-spans and work as most of them want to.

If Republicans were smart (and this is in quesion) they would make this into a commercial IMEEDIATELY.

Republicans are brilliant: it only took Michael Steel 9 months to put a Twitter on GOP.com. Genius!

This should be played as an ad to counter Obamacare. You would think AARP would be up in arms about this kind of talk.

That’s a good one right there.

I kinda wish FR had a simple “recommend” button next to a post to give it kudos without a reply.

Officer Wesley Cheeks tells a town hall protester in Reston, Virginia, that he can “charge [him] with whatever I want to” because the protester is holding up a sign he doesn’t like.

When the protester asks why other sign-holders aren’t being threatened with trespassing charges, the officer says it’s because the protester’s sign has a picture.

“This used to be America!” the protester exclaims.

The officer retorts: “It ain’t no more, okay?”

We went to a gun show a couple of months ago. It was mind boggling how many elderly people were there buying guns and ammo. Some of them had never even owned a gun. I had to explain to them the difference to one nice, elderly couple what there difference was between and semi automatic and a revolver. They hadn’t ever held a semi automatic. They ended up buying a Mossberg 20 gauge and a S&W revolver because they were too old to rack the slide. Their hands didn’t have the strength. Scary, huh? I told them go to the range and practice, repeat, repeat.
