In an article that was mostly focused on the conflict between the Obama administration and the Fox News Channel, there was an interesting side note to the escalation of hostilities. Fox Business is allegedly courting CNNs Lou Dobbs, who had lunch with Foxs chairman, Roger Ailes, last month, according to The New York Times.
Should he jump over to Fox, Dobbs, who has faced an advertisement boycott like his potential colleague Glenn Beck, might find himself in the Obama administrations sights, like the rest of Fox, which would probably be just fine with him. Were going to treat them the way we would treat an opponent, said Anita Dunn, the White House communications director, of the network. As they are undertaking a war against Barack Obama and the White House, we dont need to pretend that this is the way that legitimate news organizations behave. Dunn told CNNs Howard Kurtz on Sunday. And its not ideological. I mean, obviously there are many commentators who are conservative, liberal, centrist, and everybody understands that. What I think is fair to say about Fox is and certainly the way we view it is that it really is more of a wing of the Republican Party.
Foxs senior vice president for programming, Bill Shine, says of the criticism from the White House, Every time they do it, our ratings go up. The end result is, Foxs ratings are at an all-time high. But the perception of Fox News as an opposition party has also affected its news correspondents, including Major Garrett, its chief White House correspondent, according to the Times. Mr. Garrett and other Fox correspondents have been directed by Michael Clemente, the channels senior vice president for news, not to appear on the channels most opinionated programs, apparently in an effort to not taint them?
Fox needs to do a report about the cloying and debased reporting of its competitors and how Hussain dislikes the true give and take of American public discourse.
Isn't Shemp Smith a stooge?.. Wait.... nevermind..
Yes. Probably from the time during the 2000 election, IIRC, when he ran over someone in Tallahassee. Seems to me it was a dispute over a parking space. At the time I hoped against hope they would use it as an excuse to dump him, but no luck.
He has got to be one of, if not THE, most annoying person on TV these days. I have never liked him or his reporting, an opinion shared by a fair number of others, but he’s like the Energizer Bunny, he just keeps going and going.
Only thing I can think of is that he has something on somebody at Fox. There is no other way to explain keeping him on when there are so many much more talented, less egotistical people to hire.
Love to see S Smith go and take BOR too.
LaRaza is after Dobbs to be fired, he must be doing something right!
gotcha ya :)
if he is quick tempered you can make a fool of him...
if your enemy is easily angered, then anger him more, so he his anger will cloud his judgement...
to paraphrase the Master-Sun Tzu
And what's the comment about neo-cons at Fox? Huh? Hannity's pretty much an orthdox conservative. Beck is more libertarian. O'Reilly is more big government in supporting environmentalism and regulation.
Fox doesn't have a template for it's right or left people.
Shep does more than any other living being to drive viewer traffic to Dobbs. I don’t watch CNN as a matter of course, but I am watching Dobbs now because of our old pal Shep.
Lie to a liar, for lies are his coin; Steal from a thief, for that is easy; lay a trap for a trickster and catch him at first attempt, but beware of an honest man ~Arab proverb
You may be right. He is the voice of sanity over there, and may actually wake some of the libs up.
At FOX, the libs won't likely tune him in, and they would get no exposure to rationality then.
Thank you very much.
OMG. That is imagery I could have done without, today.
LOL! Poor Major garret at Fox News has swine flu.
My guess is Shep Smith has a disease that men in San Fran get.
Fox rocks. If they took it away from me I would dump my cable and get a satellite service.
