Fox recruiting Lou Dobbs for war on Obama administration?
Chattah Box ^ | October 12, 2009

In an article that was mostly focused on the conflict between the Obama administration and the Fox News Channel, there was an interesting side note to the escalation of hostilities. Fox Business is allegedly courting CNN’s Lou Dobbs, who had lunch with Fox’s chairman, Roger Ailes, last month, according to The New York Times.

Should he jump over to Fox, Dobbs, who has faced an advertisement boycott like his potential colleague Glenn Beck, might find himself in the Obama administration’s sights, like the rest of Fox, which would probably be just fine with him. “We’re going to treat them the way we would treat an opponent,” said Anita Dunn, the White House communications director, of the network. “As they are undertaking a war against Barack Obama and the White House, we don’t need to pretend that this is the way that legitimate news organizations behave.” Dunn told CNN’s Howard Kurtz on Sunday. “And it’s not ideological. I mean, obviously there are many commentators who are conservative, liberal, centrist, and everybody understands that. What I think is fair to say about Fox is — and certainly the way we view it — is that it really is more of a wing of the Republican Party.”

Fox’s senior vice president for programming, Bill Shine, says of the criticism from the White House, “Every time they do it, our ratings go up.” The end result is, Fox’s ratings are at an all-time high. But the perception of Fox News as an opposition party has also affected its news correspondents, including Major Garrett, its chief White House correspondent, according to the Times. Mr. Garrett and other Fox correspondents have been directed by Michael Clemente, the channel’s senior vice president for news, not to appear on the channel’s most opinionated programs, apparently in an effort to ‘not taint them’?

I'll be 50 this coming February, and I can't recall any administration acting like this before. Dear Leader is sooooo thin-skinned. There's one cable network that doesn't sing his praises 24/7, so they must be destroyed!!

Dobbs is no neocon. He probably won’t feel any more at home at FOX than CNN.

“is that it really is more of a wing of the Republican Party.”

The only one, I might add. The rest are Obama boot lickers.

I might as well dump my TV. We don’t have Fox.

They really are thin skinned! I thought the Clinton administration was touchy.

FoxNews must be hitting a nerve.

Commies always act like this ... Pay attention to the food riots and media shake downs going on in venezuela right now for what the future holds for American Obammunism. Inflation is now clearing 30% in Venezuela as the government prints more and more money to give away.

A good place to start is http://laht.com/

Fox should hire Lou Dobbs. They can send Bill O’Reilly aka BOR(e) back to Inside Edition or he can tend an Irish bar on Long Island.

Shep Smith can be a towel boy at a bath house.

Dobbs accomplishes more at CNN than he would at FOX.

The truth hurts and Fox news is painful to the Obama administration. The biggest pack of liars to ever hit Washington.

It isnt bad enough that Obama is a coward in National Politics , he is a personal coward as well. He hasnt the courage to face Fox News. Believe me I have seen enough of O’ Reilly to know that if he got Obama on his show , it would be a softball game and yet Obama cannot face him.

Bingo. Argentina is catching up to Venezuela on the media shut down of ANY dissent.

I would love for Luo Dobbs to leave CNN. More viewers leaving if Lou goes. Nice.

Actually, Obama has attacked Dobbs before. That's from May 2008.

What's more than a bit disturbing is that few people are interested in backing up Dobbs in ways that would blunt any attempts at a boycott. In case anyone wants to actually do something, sign up for MediaMatters and leave comments on their entries that lie/mislead/smear Dobbs, and do the same for other bloggers. And, help me show how Dobbs' other detractors are lying/smearing/just plain wrong.

Very few of the arguments offered by his detractors make any sense, but if no one is willing to do anything then the bad guys will win.

Trade Dobbs for Sheppard Smith and throw in BOR to “sweeten” the deal.

"Dobbs is no neocon. He probably won’t feel any more at home at FOX than CNN."

Do you use the term "Neocon" as a substitute or euphemism for "Jew" like so many on the Left and Far-Right?

OK, so you have two cable news channels and Obama God knows how many other newspapers licking the boots of the President.   The media is supposed to hold any politician accountable, not constantly licking their boots day in and day out.

Is Obama’s adminpstration now interpreting EVERY network decision FOX makes as ‘all part of a master plan’ to torment the white house - I mean anchors have been changing networks for decades now - is there no ‘normal’ industry reason that would prompt Dobbs to meet to discuss changing networks?

I agree with a poster on another thread who said that the white house is formallizing it’s objection to FOX, and claiming the network has declared war on the White House in order to set up their ‘case’ for the ‘Fairness Doctrine”
I wonder if Obama’s narcissism is contagious or did he surround himself with equally narcissistic people or enablers. Are there none among the Obama camp (higher up in the white house) who recoil at this behavior but can’t say so? Or were they all ‘assimilated’? (Borg reference)

BTW, it wasn’t long ago that Pelosi said dissent was the highest form of patriotism:
