Sima Samar, women's rights activist in Afghanistan: "With dogged persistence and at great personal risk, she kept her schools and clinics open in Afghanistan even during the most repressive days of the Taliban regime, whose laws prohibited the education of girls past the age of eight. When the Taliban fell, Samar returned to Kabul and accepted the post of Minister for Women's Affairs."
Ingrid Betancourt: French-Colombian ex-hostage held for six years.
"Dr. Denis Mukwege: Doctor, founder and head of Panzi Hospital in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo. He has dedicated his life to helping Congolese women and girls who are victims of gang rape and brutal sexual violence."
Handicap International and Cluster Munition Coalition: "These organizations are recognized for their consistently serious efforts to clean up cluster bombs, also known as land mines. Innocent civilians are regularly killed worldwide because the unseen bombs explode when stepped upon."
"Hu Jia, a human rights activist and an outspoken critic of the Chinese government, who was sentenced last year to a three-and-a-half-year prison term for 'inciting subversion of state power.'"
"Wei Jingsheng, who spent 17 years in Chinese prisons for urging reforms of China's communist system. He now lives in the United States."
They (or conservative tycoons like Steve Forbes) should divert some of the funds from their Prez. Libraries (or other projects) to found a "REAL Peace Prize Fund", that would honor actual heroes like the ones on this list or Irena Sendler, who was passed over for the Goron.
Then the "Nobel Appease Prizes" would fade into a deserved irrelevance!
He got this for bowing and kowtowing to Arab leaders. His contribution to peace was that he, the President of the United States, bowed and scraped before the leaders of tiny Arab nations. And he allowed it to be photographed while the leaders of Japan and other countries looked on and smirked.
They are rewarding him for his contribution to belittling the Presidency. Truly, we are the world. We are the children.
"Wei Jingsheng, who spent 17 years in Chinese prisons for urging reforms of China's communist system. He now lives in the United States."
No,these two would never do.Defiance of state authority doesn't play well in "progressive" Europe.For proof of that just chat with those hauled into court for questioning the "civility" of Europe's large,and growing,moslem population.
“In ten days in office he did more than anyone on the planet to promote peace.”
If you recall, in that same ten days he also exported U.S. Taxpayer funded abortions to the world.
ALL HAIL OBAMA! (or else...)
ALL Shall Take The MARK!!
Reading the list, I would support any of these people as a Nobel Prize winner. The committee could have sent a strong human rights message by any of these selections and have supported diversity at the same time. But then they wouldn’t have necessarily sent the political message they are so intent on, would they?
Bump!
Thanks for the post, I was looking for this list.
He'll probably give his money to ACORN.
Send em a nice letter...its good therapy!

This act has devalued the award. I dont think that even Obama himself expected to get it.
++++++++++++++++
Which is shocking, as he is the messiah, both all knowing and all deserving...bwaaaaaaaaaaaahahaha.
Who nominated Obama and when?
Makes me want to weep. The $1.2 that goes with the award should be donated to the organizations represented in that group so it can do some good. I heard BHO is going to give it to charity, let it be those.
Oh yeah? Well if they were so important they’d have rich, powerful friends who could win them the Nobel Prize too.
I really think Obama with his message of how poor starving people can’t get ahead because of rich powerful people covering for each other makes a much more important statement. :)
The appropriate response is to say congratulations. - Tim Pawlenty
+++++++++++++++
Wow, Pawlenty’s telling us what’s ‘appropriate?’ He wouldn’t make it around here long, where we tend to speak our mind...
Come on Tim, we live in the surreal world of obammy worship - can you let us vent?
PATHETIC!!!!
I heard BHO is going to give it to charity, let it be those.
++++++++++++++++
ACORN/COI is slightly short on funds...
A peace prize in every box
At any rate it seemed like he was fully aware that he was a laughing stock because of this.
+++++++++++++++
That’s for sure.
Trust me, that quote is gonna come back to haunt him, if he intends to run for President against Sarah. Obama is going to be looking like the anti-Christ even to Democrats in another three years.
Pawlenty is going to rue the day he ever uttered those words of appeasement.
