NEW YORK -- The New York Daily News is reporting that Red Sox Hall of Famer Ted Williams' severed head was mistreated at an Arizona cryonics facility, according to details from a new book. In "Frozen," Larry Johnson, a former executive at the Alcor Life Extension Foundation in Scottsdale, Ariz., writes that Williams' head, which had been severed and frozen for storage, was abused at the facility. Johnson claims a technician took baseball-like swings at Williams' frozen head with a monkey wrench. Williams, the last player to hit over .400 in a season, died in 2002 at age 83 and had his remains sent to Alcor for cryogenic storage in the hope that future generations would develop the technology to revive him.

Boy is he gonna have one big headache when he is re-attached one day.
Head abuse - hate when that happens. Is that better than if the full body is abused?
Not an abused, frozen, severed head ping.
I guess it really wasn't a ping!
That's no way to get ahead in the biz ...
Whiffle ball with severed limbs flashback ping.
Say WHAT???????????????
The story is kind of a letdown. When I read the headline I was hoping maybe they were bowling with it or something.
Ted Williams’ head was quoted as saying, “I ain’t got no body”.
THIS is the reason for cremation. No chance of some fool “violating” your body in any way.
Why??? I mean, why? Why the heck would anyone want to swing a monkey-wrench at a frozen head? Why??? Oh, for the love of humanity—WHY???
Non-story as it was already discussed on the View. Whoopsie said it was just abuse-abuse.
When my grandfather died in Mexico City (back in ‘76), we learned that to have his body shipped back for burial in New Jersey alongside his wife, the Mexican officials were going to have to do a full-body cavity search of the corpse for drugs, so you can guess which method my aunt and mother signed off on.
Maybe they didn't have a cow-bell.
I’ll bet if he is revived, he’ll have a strong aversion to hand tools.
John Henry made the decision to have his father's body taken to Alcor for freezing, setting off a battle with his half-sister, who said her father had wanted to be cremated. In other words, don't blame Ted for signing on to this hair-brained scheme.
I love how they write that Ted wanted his body frozen to be brought back to life! His worthless son, who passed away not to many yrs. ago himself, was the one who demanded his father’s body be frozen while his sister fought and said he wanted a burial. He came up with a lousy sheet of stained paper he wrote out the wishes that his father’s body be frozen and had his father sign it(if it wasn’t a forgery) and the stupid court upheld it(who wants to bet that was a Demonrat appointed judge?!). He should be given a burial. This is insane.
Put down the monkey wrench or heads will roll.
