I fully understand also. At the same time my son was in Iraq (combat soldier), our family had three others who were also in Iraq (two manning checkpoints and providing security for convoys, the other a mechanic). Plus, my sister’s son served a year in the green zone (Intel Specialist) , and our niece’s husband served there also (making six family members who were boots on the ground in the sandbox). My sister’s brother was stationed at Abu Daubi and flew into Iraq to gather intelligence from captured insurgents (working for the FBI). He was there for six years. The last 8 years have been difficult.

“Man he sure it making it easy for the Republican who runs against him in 2012, all he has to do now is raise taxes on the middle class and he will be easy to paint as the tax and spend weak on defense liberal people love to vote against :) “

assuming we’ll even be able to vote against him in 2012...

Yes, but all the hard work of our military is about to be for naught.

This is the closest thing I could find. Biden wants a pullout with some troops left to train Afghan Security.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09/23/obama-considers-strategy-shift-afghan-war/

President Barack Obama is considering shifting the focus of military efforts in Afghanistan from confronting the Taliban with more U.S. forces to scaling back the American presence and concentrating on Al Qaeda both there and in Pakistan, according to a published report.

That plan, put together by Vice President Joe Biden, would put emphasis on rooting out Al Qaeda from strongholds along the Pakistan border using Predator drone strikes, special forces and other tactics, The New York Times reported on Tuesday, citing unnamed U.S. sources.

While the focus would shift to Pakistan, U.S. forces would accelerate training of Afghan troops to take on the Taliban. Biden has said previously he believes Pakistan is the main threat to American interests, but Obama rejected his approach in the spring.

The plan is one of a range of options being reviewed in light of a pending request from Gen. Stanley McChrystal for an additional 30,000-40,000 troops and his dire assessment of the Afghan campaign, the newspaper said.

Officials told the paper that on Sept. 13 Obama met in the Situation Room with his top advisers to begin tackling the problem. He was joined by Biden, Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, National Security Adviser James Jones and Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

“There are a lot of competing views,” one official was quoted by the paper as saying.

No it was not. Bush should speak out against the evil in DC and you know it. The last 3 dim presidents destroyed many facets of decorum... and decorum is not as important as our Nations survival. Of course none of you that attack me attempt to even acknowledge our Nation's peril in your flaming on me. You guys need to read how our truly GREAT FOUNDING FATHERS handled scalawags like hussein... and decorum did not enter into the picture. Bush does a disservice to this Nation by remaining silent on her destruction. Like I said... he fiddles... Rome burns. BTW... I'll put what I did for and gave to Bush both times he ran against anything that you did to elect him.

I was referring to his overall decision-making WRT Afghanistan, not just this most recent one.

This one will have us leaving the country in defeat, not victory.

But I do agree that if he isn’t going to prosecute the war with vigor and a solid commitment to winning it, then we should get out.

Looks like they’re fixing on doing to GEN McCrystal what they did to me in some sence.

We called them to the carpet - they take the carpet away.
