(CNN) -- Could George W. Bush or some of his top aides end up behind bars?
It's extremely unlikely, but the Obama administration is taking its first steps along a path that could lead in that direction, with the investigation of Central Intelligence Agency interrogators involved in the war on terror.
"You don't know where these things are going to end up," former CIA agent Peter Brookes told me. "They could go to very high levels in the government."
The probe will focus on whether interrogators exceeded their instructions and broke the law when, for example, they choked a prisoner until he lost consciousness or threatened another one with a gun and a power drill.

We will be there in DC - not sure if we'll be able to meet up, but it sure would be fun. We have to miss the morning stuff, but will be there for the big rally, and then have to drive home to Ohio (for church Sunday a.m.)
Is there a FR center of action where I can look you up? I would LOVE to finally see you face to face - especially after all these bloody fights we've fought together. :)
Tell you what, kev. When you apologize to me for lying about me, comparing me with Pelosi, calling me an idolater, and attacking my faith, I'll admit to being a provocateur.
Deal?
“It is true that it is much more difficult to do anything with the press arrayed against us. But it is not a waste of time to go to DC.”
The state sovereignty movement is the key. THAT might have a chance. Remember how the previous two Tea Party nationwide events were reported?
“while you continue to distort the truth about a man who was very conservative on some very important matters, including those of life and death.”
Because he was very liberal on so many other important matters.
Stop the pity party thing you have going on...it doesn’t befit a conservative.
Snap out of it...
A veto override requires a two-thirds vote of both the House and Senate (Article 1, Section 7 of the US Constitution).
Do you really think that if President Bush had vetoed the CFR bill, that 7 of the 40 senators who voted against it would have changed their vote in favor of it and none of the 60 who voted for it would have changed to vote against it?
Most of these people are coming with state groups, and I hope there’s some emphasis on the states they come from and the fact that state sovereignty is a vital concept that has always been a bit neglected (because the Federal government realizes that it is a threat) but has never been more important than now.
Wow. Pretty heavy indictment of all of us real life conservatives, troll.
Just for the record - not for you, troll, but for the conservatives - there is not ONE "liberal agenda" that I have ever defended, on this thread or any other in all my posts. Therefore, since you are both a liar and a troll, I will join the others who are putting you on permanent "Ignore."
Maybe some day when you grow up or become a conservative in real life, I'll talk to you again. Until then.........have a nice liberal life.
Not for lack of trying.
Had he been able to by Imperial Decree, without having to deal with that pesky Congress, he certainly would have.
"See you at the bill signing".
That is perfect.
I asked you to join in the fight for our country that I am ACTIVELY engaged in.
Put aside your emotions and join the battle against evil, eleni. We need everyone, including you.
Buck up, put on your armor and fight the enemy. DO it!
“So you are saying that ALL of us FReepers who are joining the march on Washington for freedom, including Jim Robinson, aren’t “accomplishing much of anything?””
It’ll work about as well as other protests on the Mall.
“Wow. Pretty heavy indictment of all of us real life conservatives, troll.”
You aren’t a real life conservative if you defend liberals.
“Just for the record - not for you, troll, but for the conservatives - there is not ONE “liberal agenda” that I have ever defended, on this thread or any other in all my posts. Therefore, since you are both a liar and a troll, I will join the others who are putting you on permanent “Ignore.””
You defend 2nd most liberal domestic agenda in the past 9 years, so yes... you do.
“Maybe some day when you grow up or become a conservative in real life, I’ll talk to you again. Until then.........have a nice liberal life.”
Perhaps when you grow out of your infatuation with certain politicians, you will be willing to judge said politicians by the policies they enact.
“Most of these people are coming with state groups, and I hope theres some emphasis on the states they come from and the fact that state sovereignty is a vital concept that has always been a bit neglected (because the Federal government realizes that it is a threat) but has never been more important than now.”
The States putting a stop to this may be the only thing that can work, now.
I’d rather it be Janet Reno. She was a very bad girl.
Agreed.
That's all we need to know about you, troll.
Now stop lying, OK? It's getting really boring.
Maoist Morons.
“I’m fighting against liberalism, and you’re fighting against me.”
You are defending a liberal. You’re only fighting one party’s liberalism.
“Now stop lying, OK? It’s getting really boring.”
To stop, I’d have to start.
