Could George W. Bush end up behind bars?

(CNN) -- Could George W. Bush or some of his top aides end up behind bars?

It's extremely unlikely, but the Obama administration is taking its first steps along a path that could lead in that direction, with the investigation of Central Intelligence Agency interrogators involved in the war on terror.

"You don't know where these things are going to end up," former CIA agent Peter Brookes told me. "They could go to very high levels in the government."

The probe will focus on whether interrogators exceeded their instructions and broke the law when, for example, they choked a prisoner until he lost consciousness or threatened another one with a gun and a power drill.

You are all over the place on this. You need to keep your personal feelings about Bush in check. He is a big boy and I am sure that his “people” can help guide him through the murky waters of political chicanery.

And last time I checked conservatives were not guided by personality cults and emotions like the red guards that are in control now.

Get a grip.

“Amen, and well said! He also said we had to give up capitalism in order to save it.”

If there are legit historians in the future, that statement of his will be remembered.

he SIGNED CFR after saying he KNEW it was unconstitutional.

You are correct...he should NOT have signed it knowing it was unconstitutional. He honestly believed that SCOTUS would shoot it down, apparently not realizing they do not give a damn about the Constitution!

The rest of this story requires one to look at the background and the facts surrounding CFR and to actually THINK for once!

The bill had been in the works for at least 5 years with George Soros behind it and providing the money to push it.

The originators of the bill were McCain, Feingold and FRED THOMPSON! Yes, McCain the so-called republican 2008 presidential candidate and the so-called "conservative grass-roots" candidate that had to be drug out from the moth balls. Many of the same folks that berate President Bush for CFR, which we heard little to nothing about during the '08 election cycle, are the very ones that "recruited" Fred Thompson.

Next, look at the date of the vote on the bill as posted below. I've already highlighted the pertinent information for you.
Think of what was going on at the time. This bill had been ready to go for a long time. Why was this particular time in history chosen for the vote?

Please note what was required to pass the bill. Notice the number of YEA votes??? Had President Bush not signed this bill, they would have voted to override his veto.
If you do not believe that, you may want to go back and research the private war John McCain was waging against President Bush at the time.

“He honestly believed that SCOTUS would shoot it down, apparently not realizing they do not give a damn about the Constitution! “

All three branches of government are tasked with protecting the Constitution. Bush took an oath. I guess political expediency was more important to him.

“I agree with ohioWfan: “PATHETIC LITTLE PEOPLE”

It matters not a damn that a veto might have been overridden. He signed it. He broke his oath. Conservatives aren’t the “PATHETIC LITTLE PEOPLE” here. That’s reserved for the useful idiots of the Left who defend liberals based on a letter behind their names.

I guess you would pursue this course only if you plan on never being out of office yourself.

It is beginning to look more like Nazi Germany for the USSA every day.

They can't possibly think they will get away with this UNLESS they plan to NEVER let power go, either by massive and internally perpetrated vote fraud.....

..... OR ......

.....suspend the Constitution and declare martial law because of some fake national emergency that never ends.

He was an LBJ or an FDR, not a Reagan.

President Bush did not come close to being an LBJ or FDR. Get real for once.
You are right, he was no Reagan!
President Bush did not give amnesty to millions of illegal alien invaders, he did not steal more of my hard earned wages at the point of a gun by raising my socialist security taxes and a few other taxes, he did not sic his transportation department on my personal freedoms and the rights of private business.

Finally, the noobie troll got something right.

Tell you what, eleni.........when you decide that Marxist thugs are more dangerous than George W. Bush, you get back to me, OK??

As long as you find Bush more a problem than communists and criminals, your emotions are all out of whack.

Nothing I've said isn't a FACT. Stop letting your feelings get in the way of your thinking process.

Now excuse me as I continue to actively oppose the threat to our precious Republic that now resides in DC.

You do whatever you want. I have my priorities straight.

He tried to grant amnesty to tens of millions of illegals WITHOUT the enforcement provisions Reagan agreed to. He DID spend future generations further into the poorhouse.

TARP was signed by whom? NCLB and Medicare-D were signed (and stumped for) by whom?

Personal freedoms include freedom from federal government interference outside legitimate authority. Government expanded a huge amount during the Bush administration.

You don’t do your liberal Republican friend any favors by attacking Reagan for his mistakes.

This crap has to be met with a strong and angry response right here and now.

This attack on defenders of the USA is not just the water the left troddles, it is the strategy of our enemies abroad. Simply allowing the left to hang themselves with their absolute lunacy and hate for the US and waiting for the backlash is a strategy fit for France in WWII. We’ll end up occupied and guess what? WE are the country that saves the World from tryanny! Who ya gonna call when the US is a wet-rag commune?

Look at the chaos that ensued when the USSR lifted the lid. When these enemies within finally trun this last great defender of freedom that is the USA into another Eurosocialist taxanimal farm, chaos around the world will bubble up beyond belief - and the left will all be taking police action as the slaughter and chaos reigns.

Of course, the elites of CNN, Pelosi, Ayers, Obama will all sit in their comfy chairs eating lobster pontificating.

Enough has been brought out about this group of Newspeople, the Obama administration, and these polits like Pelosi and Kerry (world leftist elites above the fray) to formulate a hard response.

you Bush Bashers are every bit as responsible for that piece of work as ACORN

Being critical of Bush's domestic policy does not make me a "Bush Basher." Much of what he did domestically was simply indefensible from a conservative perspective.

Perhaps you are not conservative, in which case I can understand your deification of GWB. I don't know.

One thing I know for sure is, you certainly did not read my entire post carefully. I gave kudos to GWB for his excellent WoT policy. Yeah, some Bush Basher I am.

My goodness! Just where in the world were you in June 2007? The moon?

If you remember correctly, it was certainly not for lack of trying that GWB didn't grant amnesty. He was pushing it harder than anybody.

I am dumbfounded that you believe he was against amnesty for illegals. Simply dumbfounded....

One last post to the newbie troll...

Your comment about President Bush's not being honorable is too stupid to even try to refute.

But let's deal with the sanctity of life and military issues, shall we?

You are clearly not a participant in the pro-life movement nor a member of any pro-life organization (leftists never are), but if you were you would understand that the fact that abortion is still legal is irrelevant to your argument. But it's a good disguise for a leftie, I suppose. President Bush was consistently and unabashedly pro-life and respected as such by every truly pro-life person in the country.

As for that "nation building" and "lie" swill, your disrespect for our mission in Iraq, General Petraeus, and our military is astounding. Your ignorance about what needed to be done in Iraq to keep us safe from the terrorist threat and to create a stable country in the center of the ME and not a breeding ground for terrorists is truly frightening.

I am quite cognizant of the across the board conservative judges and justices he appointed. I am cognizant of the FACT that he never raised taxes, and supported small businesses, I am cognizant of the FACT that the military supported him to the point of adoration (and miss him as CinC), and I am cognizant of the FACT that he loved America and stood up for us against the UN, Kyoto, the World Court and socialism and terrorism world wide.

Yes, I admire the PERSON. He is a man of integrity, he is a brother in Christ, he is a patriot and he is a good, GOOD man, but I also see objectively what he accomplished for this country.

Feel free to continue on your path of blindness. I prefer to keep my eyes open.

I have defended the integrity of an honorable man.

Just because you sign on to FR and bash Bush doesn't mean you have an ounce of conservatism in you.

I'm an across the board conservative. You, on the other hand, are just a Bush bashing newbie.

The only pro-life organization to which I am an actual member is the Southern Baptist Church.

“As for that “nation building” and “lie” swill, your disrespect for our mission in Iraq, General Petraeus, and our military is astounding. Your ignorance about what needed to be done in Iraq to keep us safe from the terrorist threat and to create a stable country in the center of the ME and not a breeding ground for terrorists is truly frightening.”

To create a stable country in the Middle East, you first have to remove Islam. As we didn’t do that, Iraq’s future remains to be seen. Islam itself is the breeding ground for terrorists. That you can’t see that, is sad. Another product of the public education system, I wager.

The “Surge”, by the way, was not some grand strategy. It was a final admission that we needed more troops on the ground and a general allowed to fight.

“I am cognizant of the FACT that he never raised taxes, and supported small businesses, I am cognizant of the FACT that”

He didn’t raise taxes, but he also didn’t cut spending- and those tax cuts had a time limit.

“the military supported him to the point of adoration (and miss him as CinC), and I am cognizant of the FACT that he loved America and stood up for us against the UN, Kyoto, the World Court and socialism and terrorism world wide.”

Did he or did he not want us to sign on to UNCLOS? Did he support Kosovo and the KLA? Did he provide funding for al Fatah? Did or did he not stop JAG from putting men in prison for fighting a war? Did he or did he not leave us wide open at home?

“Yes, I admire the PERSON. He is a man of integrity, he is a brother in Christ, he is a patriot and he is a good, GOOD man, but I also see objectively what he accomplished for this country.”

You know him personally, then? I just see the debt he added, the terrorists he funded, the illegal aliens everywhere, and the FACT we know have a wanna-be DICTATOR in power because the GOP was too damnably weak and self-serving to stop him! Matthew 7:16: “You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?” I know Bush to be a liberal Republican from the Snowe wing of the party.
