The purpose of this thread is to secure a commitment from each local Principal to provide an opt-out so that no one is forced to endure Obama's subtle, presumptuous speech. Below, I will provide a sample of reasonable letters we want the Principal to sign. If refused, we know where they stand and will take the appropriate action against them. Here is an article of how they roll in Colorado. http://blogs.westword.com/latestword/2009/09/douglas_county_school_allows_p.php It would be useful if the only comments on this thread are how to do this, report your results and contact information for the press to report and follow-up on.
I had to do that for sex ed in elementary school when my kids were students. AZ had that option, but if we had still been in Cali, they would have been forced to go. Just amazing the power the government thinks they have over good ole Mom and Dad!
This is the PARENTS decision, not Obama's or the teachers!
I also heard of a school in Michigan where the kids were told they needed to have “0bama time.”
People...! It isn’t the speech by Dear Leader that’s the problem. It’s the follow-up “lesson plans”, push-poll questions, etc., the teachers have been provided with that will do a mind f**k on your kids.
How is this video going to be piped into schools/classrooms? Presumably, it will be via the internet, so the White House will be able to tell which schools participate and how many classrooms/computers receive the feed. The amount of info gleaned from this experiment is scary. Also, attendance data is already required from each public school by the federal government. I’m not sure if they require data down to the individual student.
It’d be rather amusing for the computer system to crash during the speech. LOL
Enjoy the fishing!
Does anyone know if this will be going on in high schools? I have a 10th grader. Maybe I’ll keep him home that day just as a statement. I’m sure he will be cooperative. ;)
and yet he has no problem doing the same to ours?
“Itd be rather amusing for the computer system to crash during the speech. LOL”
Funny. It’s possible, too, considering how tech UN-savvy these jerks are.
Where I went to school the funds that the schools received were based on attendance. Back in the late 80’s the rate was something crazy like $120 per student per day that the schools got funded and they lost that $120 per day each day the kid wasn’t in school.
This is why we could only miss 3 unexcused absences for half a year and a total of 5 unexcused absences for the year.
If it is still the same way they get funded I think the rate would be over $200 per day and if you had a school that had a few hundred students not showing up for a day it would impact the bottom line on the order of $xx,xxx or more.
[snicker]
“...the child will be sent to our media center to engage in an individual literacy activity directed by the teacher
Is that what we used to call “study hall” or Library?
Why don’t they just say so!
Well consider taking action, just fishing will help your kids but won't help Johnny's classmates.
I object to the wording of that sentence. There's nothing subtle about Obama's speeches or agenda.
I vote for fishing! Nothing else brings you closer to God and self!
Texas leads the fight! Go,Texas!
Bravo!!! Quick response.
Probably reading a book about the Dear Leader.
