Researchers recently discovered the worlds first pterosaur landing footprints, and the find has revealed precise coordination and other features in these mysterious flying reptiles. In a study published in Proceedings of the Royal Society B, co-author Kevin Padian and his colleagues examined some of the anatomical and behavioral features of these creatures, which are presumed to be extinct.
Based on skeletal anatomy and footprints, both found in fossilized form, it is known that pterosaurs walked on all fours. Their wings folded back so that they could walk on special forefeet located on their elbows. Their hind legs were situated underneath their bodies―like those of birds, mammals, and dinosaurs―and not out to the side like todays four-legged reptiles.
Pterosaurs may even have been able to run on all fours. But until now, nobody has described their landing pattern. And landing correctly is critical, as any pilot will attest...

Ping!
That’s actually an improvement over the real Helen Thomas!
dammit, i keep running out of nails for that coffin...
Was the Pterosaur designed by the Intelligent Designer or created by God?
I have given HT a six month free pass for the take down she did on Obama’s press secretary.
They are one in the same. Unfortunately, many IDers don’t know it yet.
Thanks for setting that issue straight.
Don’t assume everyone has the same mentality as you, Whattajoke.
I saw an article about the Pterosaur when it first came out. And the way it was written, it appeared that the author did not know how most birds land, in a flare. Having dabbled in hang gliding, besides always checking that you are clipped in, the first instinct to overcome is the desire to plant your feet on landing(not a fun outcome). The first step in landing is to convert all vertical velocity to horizontal, then let the horizontal velocity bleed off mere feet above the ground, when you hear the air starting to stall over the wing, you push the bar full forward, often at a full run on the ground, converting the remaining horizontal momentum back into vertical, stalling the airfoil, and then you land on two feet, completing a flare. That a Pterosaur would know this is not surprising. The flare is something the birds all know how to do. What I would like to know, and this was not evident from the “prehistoric runway” article, was given the flare, do they have any idea how fast the pterosaurs were flying just before the flare? Minimum controllable airspeed would say something about the efficiency of the airfoil for a given wing geometry. It would also say something about the air density.
Don't worry, the IDers know it. The "intelligent designer" ruse is just a way for them to claim ID isn't religion and therefore should be taught as science instead of theology.
The problem for them is that nobody's buying it. I have to hand it to admitted creationists, at least they're honest about their position.
Thanks for the ping!
If you think all IDers recognize the God of the Bible as the intelligent designer, then you really don’t have a very good grasp of the diversity of opinion within the ID community.
By admission of the founders of the modern ID movement, the purpose of ID is to promote the Christian God.
I was wrong though. Not "nobody" is buying the charade. There are always enough suckers out there -- just look at the number of Scientologists.
How can IDers promote the Christian God when their science is not guided by the Bible?
I have just two questions and I will not bother you anymore with replies or debate.
Do you get paid by the hit count on these sites you continually promote?
Do you have multiple screennames here? One person in particular replies with the exact same reply, letter for letter, usually within minutes, on every thread you start.
Are you talking old-Earth vs. young-Earth creationists? That's a problem between you guys and your differing interpretations of the Bible.
