Mother outraged by naked bicycle protest (Seattle of course)

SEATTLE -- An Everett mother says she's outraged over a weekend protest full of naked cyclists.

The group was riding along the Seattle waterfront Friday night wearing nothing but smiles to expose some of the dangers they face.

But not everyone was smiling.

"I looked and there were naked men with their genitals hanging out," said Marcy Hayes, who was there with her 6-year-old daughter Ashland. "I'm yelling at my daughter to look away."

Hayes says she and her daughter walked out of the Seattle Aquarium and right into the path of a pack of cyclists and all their nakedness.

"I just can't believe this is allowed," she said. "I don't understand what law would say it is OK."

When it comes to naked cyclists, Seattle police have a high tolerance. They said it's not illegal to be naked in public unless you provoke or offend someone.

Beware of used bike saddles on Ebay. You never know where they’ve been!

“Anyway riding around naked on a bike must be incredibly unhygenic.”

To me it looked uncomfortable at best and really dangerous at worst having fallen off a bike clothed.

As an aside, anyone here noticed the irony in how big cycling is in the same country that pretty much owns the luxury car market?

There is nothing wrong with the naked human body.

But there might be something wrong with the naked human body in public. I'm sure there are certain tribal cultures who would find you Germans prudish, since it's doubtful that you believe in unlimited public nudity. Does it embarrass you that they are more enlightened than you?

The absolute hypocrisy related to sex is best exemplified by Fox and especially the articles on Fox News.

Really? Do the FOX news anchors read the news while sitting naked on a bicycle?

Not to mention the very strong defence of porn here at FR.

1) I don't think there's a strong defense of porn here at FR.

2) The people who would strongly defend porn are probably not the same people who would complain about nude bike riders, thus no hypcrisy on their part.

3) The porn issue is about what an individual chooses to look at in private; the nude bikers are about what an individual may force others to see in public. Different issues, different principles involved.

This is definitely one thing that always gives conservatives a bad name.

Really? You think conservatives could improve their standing with the general public if they advocated more nude bike riding? Maybe in Seattle (or Germany, or Bujumbura) or some of the other progressive enclaves, but not in 99% of America.

I think what you really mean is that Einigkeit_Recht_Freiheit has become upset with FR and the United States and now posts mainly to vent his frustrations. Isn't the issue really that you're on the wrong forum?

I got it and I’m 40. I don’t feel old, and neither are you.

We’re just experienced and SO-phisticated. :)

Perhaps you could combine them and have a luxury cycle? Three wheels, leather saddles, gold trim, non-alcoholic champagne stored in the frame, bell with adjustable tones, fifty self-changing gears and sat nav.

:)

He looks like he needs a direct hit. Perhaps it might be a good idea for him to become mayor. It might open many peoples eyes.

Do naked cyclists wear helmets? I guess they have to for safety reasons.

There is nothing wrong with the naked human body.

They only go naked because they are attention wh*res, who know that their nudity will shock and offend a considerable segment of society (those of faith and those with different morals). They rub their nudity in the face of this segment as a direct insult (no different than shouting the "N" word in a black church). They know that they can not win their argument intelligently, so they result to cheap pallor tricks and insults.

Americans are the most liberal people in the world. No more uptight than anyone else and far more tolerant than 90% of the world.

Any islamic country in the world would have executed the naked cyclists.

Red China or North Korea or North Vietnam would have made short work of the naked cyclists. Most African countries would not have been tolerant. I imagine they would be in jail without a trial for a long time in South American countries.

The problem in this instance is their exposing themselves to children. That is at the least bordering upon sexual pedophilia and is sexual child abuse.

You have clearly never been to the Netherlands. Or for that matter, certain parts of northern Germany or Scandanavia.

It is has quite some time since anything in public in the US has been argued intelligently. It is all about being media whores.

(except recreational "bicycle paths" which no one serious would ever use)

Take the Luce Line from Minneapolis out to Hutchinson :-)

...and 25-35 mph, eh? Color me IMPRESSED!

Used to commute 13 miles each way when I lived in Scottsdale. Shea Blvd. was downright scary.

Cheers!

wouldn’t riding a bicycle while naked be kind of painful? I mean, where would all one’s “equipment” hang? Ouch...
