Do you believe Obama is hiding or lying about something regarding his origins?

Yes.

For starters, Jim.

Little to nothing in Obama's history in Honolulu has credence. It's Obama providing descriptions of Honolulu through his autobiography published decades later of the decade he spent in Hawaii and of of a time that he couldn't possibly recall during the early 60s. The facilities and infrastructure of the city are recollections of a future Honolulu which he lived in during his years at Punahou and even at that point in time there are mismatches. (I suppose we could forgive this errata as the memories of a drug addled teen.)

Obama lived in Honolulu from about age 9 till 18, with his grandmother and grandfather, attending a private high school but there's no reference of any intermediate schooling from age 10-12 nor are there records of any public school attendance for those years (and there is no record of his kindergarten year in Honolulu either.)

In order to place a child in a public (or private) school, proof of age, vaccinations and a TB Tine Test are required. It has been so since before statehood. Children from foreign countries are rigorously screened again even if they are returning locally born (or allegedly local born) as a preventative measure. None of these records on Barry are available and none forthcoming.

These may seem small details but they are the small details that every parent or guardian in Hawaii has had to provide to enroll a kid in school. And in those details lies identity.

(Menehune 56 has a fine collection of photographs from the pre statehood era. Honolulu was a fine city in the middle of the Pacific, one that Bing Crosby and Elvis capitalized on. If he'd be so inclined to share his archive, we'd all benefit visually from its revelations of a past era.)

Yeppers. Don’t know what’s being covered up but something is not kosher. Too many people trying to duck, dodge and avoid the issue rather than coughing up some simple evidence.

Yes.

The Hawaiian forgery, the eyewitness accounts in Africa and Indonesia, the listing of his citizenship on documents that state other than United States are compelling enough to raise serious doubt at the very least and possibly even enough to have him removed from office.

The Israelis were on to him even before most of us....

Kudos to Free Republic for airing this question.

I have asked Obots over 100 times, and I will ask here.

Why does Obama refuse to release his real birth certificate?

It would end all of the debate and questions, with everyone,
but maybe a few fringe kooks.

No one has ever given me an answer.

Short answer, yes. BUT, I’m not convinced it has anything to do with his eligibility either. I suspect he’s hiding something truly embarrassing and I wonder just what could possibly be such an embarrassment that he’s willing to go to such lengths to keep it hidden. One thing is almost a certainty in my mind, and that is Odinga Sr. is NOT his biological father. If not then, who is? And WHY would it be worth hiding. For all we know the Dunham girl may not even be his mother. Maybe he’s the product of a rape? Maybe even the Dunham girl’s mother? Or maybe the Dunham girl’s dad hooked up with the upstairs maid? Whatever, Rosemary’s Baby comes to mind...

the only proof of is birth is a “certificate of live birth” from Hawaii which would not be sufficient to qualify you for a US passport

Ummm, actually it is. My niece was born in Indonesia in 1976 when my BIL was working for Hughes. She has a long form Indonesian BC. When her parents came back to the US in 1977, she was issued a COLB and a passport.

Now, 32 years later, she just got another passport and she only provided her COLB and that old passport. The COLB doesn't even list her parents but she recieved her brand new passport in record time just a few weeks ago.

Thank you for Free Republic.

Obama has mastered the art of obfuscation. He feeds the confused with purposefully ambiguous mantras designed to absorb the projections of their intended targets. Thus he can be all things to all people, even the “messiah”. His game plan has been deception at every turn. It is interesting that he recently “mis-calibrated” and revealed a glimpse of the real Obama for anyone wishing to see. Curious that “O” didn’t invite the Good Reverend Wright to moderate at the White House beer fest. Obama is redirecting attention away from his little “slip” onto Gates and Crowley rather than his own stupidity in revealing himself.

Obama is clearly rooted in Black Liberation Theology, Alinsky, and Marx. Sadly, the majority of Americans have become lazy choosing to be uninformed and easily manipulated. That’s the only reason I can figure, that we elected this chameleon from hell to be our president.

As the sheeple go, so goes the nation.

"Over a half a million dollars in legal fees... just to keep the long form birth certificate out of sight...

If it's to keep a piece of paper hidden, then yes, the expense seems inordinate. But try looking at it from another angle. If, as other posters have suggested, he's playing a combination of rope-a-dope and the Long Con, then half a mil or even a million or more is a modest and entirely reasonable investment in a gotcha that, barring catastrophe, he can spring on us 36 months from now.

What is he hiding? I don’t know.

It is not necessarily something relating specifically to the Hawaiian birth certificate; I suspect Obama is taking a “crack in the dam” approach, such that if he shows a willingness to concede disclosing his original birth certificate, he fears a crack in the dam such that public pressure could build for him to come clean on all his records, including his college records.

My guess as to what might be behind his concealing his records?

First, we know from the Lolo Soetoro and Ann Dunham divorce papers that Barry was Lolo’s son. It’s so recited in the legal filing. That was in the late summer of 1980, so Barry was a rising sophomore in college and was STILL at that time Lolo Soetoro’s son.

How did that come about? I think when Ann and her children moved to Indonesia to be with her husband Lolo, that she and Lolo expected them to remain in Indonesia for the rest of their lives.

Lolo was back home; Ann was an anti-American marxist who believed in the inherent nobility and superiority of Third World cultures.

So I would expect that Lolo adopted Barry, if he had not already done so earlier when they were married in Hawaii, and that Barry, and perhaps Ann as well, became a naturalized citizen of Indonesia.

Now that does not mean Barry lost his US citizenship; he was not of the age of majority at the time and it is hard for a minor to renounce US citizenship. And it is not necessarily the case that the state of Hawaii vital records office was ever formally notified by anybody that Lolo had adopted Barry or that Barry had become an Indonesian citizen.

In the course of time, after a number of years, the marriage becomes less happy. And it is decided to send Barry to Hawaii to live with his grandparents. This was probably done for educational reasons, in that Ann thinks Barry could get a better education in Hawaii.

But legally he remained Lolo’s son and an Indonesian citizen.

So Barry goes through Punahou, focusing on basketball and partying.

When the time comes for college, Barry has limited choices available. This is not because Punahou is not an excellent school; it is. But Barry may well have done quite poorly on the SATs, and if his grades were less impressive, then even affirmative action might be insufficient to get him into a good college. The other stumbling block might be his white mother and white grandparents; college admissions officers might prefer to take affirmative action admissions from black families in economically deprived circumstances.

Nevertheless, I recall in those years how so many colleges were following the fad of “internationalization,” and it was commonplace for a university to brag about the international breadth of its matriculating students. In fact, it still is. The more exotic the country, the more interested the college would be in the student.

So Barry, with his Indonesian citizenship, was something of an exotic animal in 1979.

So I suspect that Barry matriculated to college at Occidental as an Indonesian citizen. He may have even qualified for some type of additional financial aid under an Occidental international student program.

The problem for Barry arises if he obtains naturalization as an Indonesion AFTER attaining the age of 18 years.

So I wonder if Barry didn’t, after turning 18, at some time in his college years, take some affirmative action to renew his Indonesian citizenship under Indonesion law.

The current provision of US law governing this is Title 8 of the U.S. Code, Section 1481. I haven’t looked back to see what any predecessor to this statute said in the 1979-1980s time period. But it currently provides that obtaining naturalization in a foreign state upon his own application after turning 18 will cause him to lose US citizenship. And if Indonesia does not permit dual citizenship, there can be no doubt that he intended to thereby lose his US citizenship.

But at the time, perhaps the more important benefit to Barry was being an Indonesian citizen.

Consider his admission to Columbia. Even with affirmative action, it is not clear that an African-American with (let’s assume) not impressive grades and (let’s assume) not impressive SAT scores could get into Columbia. But as an exotic Indonesian citizen, Columbia might be interested.

It is interesting to note that Barack seemed to hang around the muslim students when he first arrived at Columbia. Now, I don’t think he is a muslim, I think he worships at the Temple of Marx & Lenin. But if Columbia treated him as an Indonesian, then when he arrived he may have been naturally introduced to Indonesian and Muslim professors and fellow students.

I wonder if it may even have been the case that he entered Harvard Law as an Indonesian. This strikes me as less necessary, as I think African-American plus the critical Columbia degree, even with middling grades, might have been enough to get into Harvard in the early-to-mid 1980s.

But who knows? His records are all hidden.

Now, someone might be thinking, well surely some employee in the registrar’s office at Occidental or Columbia has taken a peek at his files, and noticed that he was listed as an Indonesian citizen, and would have spilled the beans.

To that I would say, not necessarily; the liberal-lefties have a stranglehold on places like Occidental and Columbia, and there may be no one with access to his records who has an interest in spilling the beans.

But, in the absence of the disclosure of the records, the foregoing is mere speculation.

Yes. I do. You bet I do.

I believe that he was likely not born on the Island and had his birth registered late, is legitimately either British or Kenyan most likely British due to his father, which makes him constitutionally ineligible. The fact he is hiding it so strenuously is not disabusing me of the idea either.

Absolutely. Everything I can find points to it. EVERYTHING. Including some of his own slipups. What I DON’T agree is that the COLB is a forgery. As I told you, and as I posted, it doesn’t need to be. It is NOT proof of his origin.

Yes, I do. I think he probably was really born in Hawaii ... but I think there’s something embarrassing written on his birth certificate, like “illegitimate” or “mulatto” or something of that sort. I would love for him to finally release his b/c, just because I’m curious what he is trying to hide.

According to an Indonesian source:

Barrak Hussein Obama II was born to a white American Ann Dunham and Kenyan Barrak Hussein Obama Snr, in Nyang’oma Kogelo now in Kenya.

Now where did they get that information? Not from us "birthers" as it preceeded us.

Just on the basics of the constitutional requirement to be Natural Born as opposed to plain vanilla citizen, he fails the test and should not be in the white house.

And any claims about how the masses will rise up, that is like saying I have to take it or else, I have no choice in the matter and the constitution is irrelevant for starters.

And yes I do think he is lying... about everything in his life. I cannot help but wonder where he gets so much money from that he can afford the teams of lawyers he is using to cover up his past. We need to get him out before he does any more damage
