David Shuster is on sometime mid-afternoon East Coast time Monday-Friday.
Many people here have their heads in the sand. That includes some of the mods.
There was a thread a couple of weeks ago about Michelle Obama. Apropos of nothing, someone posted a picture of Aunt Jemima, head scarf and all. (Note: we were not discussing pancakes or any related cooking subject at the time) I (and others) reported it and the picture was deleted.
This was the moderators explanation for the why the picture was deleted:
Many have asked for post #12 to be pulled - because it might be seen as 'racist.' That was not done for one very big reason. The race of Aunt Jemima and the 1st lady is the same - and Aunt Jemima has been an icon loved and respected for many many years.The words posted with the image are clear, 'She should just make more pancakes!' - suggesting that the current 1st lady has stepped outside her role, in ways none before her have tread. That is not a racist suggestion. It is more an opinion that the 1st lady should refocus her efforts.

(Again, note: the Aunt Jemima picture that was deleted was in post #12. There was no discussion of cooking or pancakes before the picture was posted. Read the mods explanation (post #62) of why said picture was NOT racist, and try to keep a straight face.)

I agree with your posts—and said as much in an earlier post on this thread, for which I received a snide reply.
I have often wished that the mods would take care of some of the unfortunate remarks and language that I’ve read on FR in the past year or so. And once, I did push the abuse button and was glad that the offensive post was removed.
I signed on here for some serious, class-act discussion. I hope to still find it here.
This thread is full of truly epic “how the hell have they lasted this long” troll fail. I’ve read about 300 of the 500 posts on this thread and I haven’t seen crap like this since the Klowne Posse days.

Since the last election there have been numerous posts of this type. Unfortunately, this one got media attention.

GTFO. Now. Not sure how long you've lasted here without being zotted, but it appears to be WAY over due.
That said there used to be a lot more actual debate over philosophical views as well as issues. More posters with a depth of historical knowledge. But those were the Clinton/early Bush days before 9-11. The whole country has changed not just FR.
If civility has disappeared I would say the libs have led the country there. Even in the Clinton days there were things like Alec Baldwin calling for Henry Hyde's family to be drug into the street and stoned to death. After 9-11 the libs went ape...stuff.
Now that 97% of blacks have shown themselves to be racists or communists it's hard to care if they feel offended anymore.
I'm also apparantly the ONLY Freeper who has ever worked in a frozen food locker (we cooked, breaded and then froze chicken for a contract to supply the New York World's Fair).
Plus, I worked in a concession stand at a drive-in theater.
There were yet other jobs of similar nature. You could do two weeks worth of Mike Rowe's "Dirty Jobs" covering them.
Then, there was my stint as an 11F40 (MOS for an Infantry Scout)

Obscenities and racism are not welcome on FR. The Mods can’t be everywhere. There’s nothing wrong with asking them to look at something and make a judgment call.
Um, no. Did I say it did? It's simply emblematic of the problem (and actually, I found the mod's pretzel-logic quite hilarious. He must be a skilled contortionist).
