As the stunned and defeated British army marched out of Yorktown, its band appropriately played A World Turned Upside Down.
Our forefathers pledged their lives and fortunes to fight and defeat the worlds mightiest army and give birth to America. Our victory over King George was the greatest military upset in the annals of human history.
George Washington believed our amazing victory was a result of divine providence.
The dream of limited government, personal freedom and liberty, rugged individualism, and self-sufficiency for which our forefathers fought and died is rapidly disappearing in 2009. Once again it is a world turned upside down.
Instead of heeding the warnings of our forefathers, we have embraced big government. Independent? No, over the last half-century we have become more dependent on Fedzilla the federal beast with a voracious appetite for our tax dollars. We once again are becoming subjects, not citizens.
Big government punishes producers and risk-takers while rewarding simpletons that it has conned into believing it is helping. Fedzilla is the enemy of the free market and freedom.
Instead of allowing the free market to correct itself, big government meddles in it and makes things worse. Exhibits A and B: Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.
Using our tax dollars, Fedzilla has purchased General Motors, and bailed out AIG and other financial institutions.
A trillion-dollar economic stimulus lawmakers approved but did not read may be the ultimate example of grotesque meddling and spending.
Now for the latest initiative we must solve immediately. President Obama wants to Fedzillarize health care.
Ailment, not cure
Placing your health in bureaucratic hands is like asking a drunk driver for a ride. Big government will destroy your health. Its a cancer unto itself.
Higher taxes and more government lead to economic genocide. Alternatively, lower taxes, less government and more independence lead to prosperity for all who are willing to take advantage of it.
Our forefathers who threw tea over the side of the ship in Boston Harbor knew this. The people whove attended Tea Parties know it. Do you?
Sometime during your July 4 celebration, you should take a few moments and read the Declaration of Independence aloud to your children, relatives and guests. Read it slowly. Let the words sink in.
Then reflect on our forefathers, they who bravely signed their names to it, thereby signing their own death warrants.
Think about that. They were willing to die for limited federal government, independence, freedom and liberty.
They didnt fight and die for freedom so that our government could provide its subjects with housing, food, transportation and health care.
To my fellow Americans who still cherish the dream of our founding fathers, I wish you a wonderful and Happy Independence Day. To those of you who are willing to compromise your liberty and freedom in the hopes that big government will provide you an artificial blanket of security, enjoy your Dependence Day.

He’s right!
Our lawmakers have made government and abomination. So what does the media dwell on? Not that FACT but a deceased child molester.
What would you think they would do about their country now? What would Washington do? What would Lincoln do? Are we missing something here?
I’ll go along with you on Washington, but Lincoln was a fed tyrant if there ever was one. He is one of the main figures responsible for the increase in federal power.
I’ve often thought that if the founding fathers could have known what the US would become, they wouldn’t have bothered to start the fight.
What would Washington do?

Start another revolution. The Motor City Madman is right on. Lets wish all the dems and rinos a HAPPY DEPENDENCE DAY since they are the ones who want to depend on government.
With the exception of the capitulation of the US to Vietnam (though that capitulation was more political than military)....
"And soon it will be MY country...they are asleep"
“Think about that. They were willing to die for limited federal government, independence, freedom and liberty.”
Yeah, but Ted, we have BBQ’s to go to...sheesh...what do you expect a MARCH ON WASHINGTON?
!
High time for a new set of Forefathers to repeat history.
I cherish the dream. In few countries would I have been able to achieve all that I’ve achieved on my own (not that it’s that much, but still...). I’ve worked hard all my adult life, and most of my teen years. No one’s given me anything. Well, anything to speak of. But....I think Nugent is revising history. It was with France’s help that we won our independence. We didn’t do it alone. Sure, France had its own reasons, but that’s beside the point. Did Nugent remember that, when France went against Bush in voting for the Iraq War? There was much talk about how France should rubber stamp our decisions because our troops had died saving France from Hitler. But France had troops who died on our soil, saving us from England. And our Statue of Liberty that we’re so proud of: a gift from France.
As for health care, I don’t want my taxes to increase to pay for the health care of freeloaders. No one does. But something has to be done. Bush’s administration had 8 years to do something, but all they did was pass the multi-trillion dollar Medicare Reform Act. I’m 55 years old. If I lost my job, who would insure me for a reasonable premium? I’m healthy. No problems at all. But I’m 55. Statistics are against me, in the profit-making world. How would I pay the high premiums? The cost of pharmaceuticals has risen hundreds of percent since the 1960s. The cost of seeing a doctor just for the flu is over $100. I don’t know what can be done. But something must be done.
About a bureaucrat interfering, and restrictions on my choices. What choices? My employer pays for my health care ins. It decides on the company, the coverage, and they give me a list of doctors I can go to, and there’s a list of procedures that will, and will not, be paid for. If I have a tumor removed, I must do it in an outpatient facility, and try to bribe, or pay, a friend to come pick me up, since they won’t let me leave the facility after being on anesthesia. Someone is making almost all the choices NOW about my health care. And it ain’t me. So what’s the difference?
The way I see it, since the Republicans didn’t seem to think there was a health care problem, and did nothing about it, the Democrats were voted in to do just that. I’m of a mind that something must be done, by someone. At this point, I’m not sure I care much WHO does something. As long as SOMETHING is done.
I’m no health care expert. But neither are most Americans. I don’t know what should be done, or what plan the Democrats will come up with, or if it will be good or bad. I just don’t know. But it’s like that funny line in the movie “Paint Your Wagon,” when the Mormon husband says to the 2nd of his two wives, who has just agreed to be sold to the dirty mining men, “But Wife! You don’t know what you’ll get!” She replies, “I may not know what I’ll get. But I know what I’ve had.”
The dream of limited government, personal freedom and liberty, rugged individualism, and self-sufficiency for which our forefathers fought and died is rapidly disappearing in 2009.
Those artifacts have been "rapidly disappearing" since the late 1920's. The public bought into an illusion of freedom and self-government. "As long as you can vote and speak freely, you are free."
In less than six months in office, Obama has pushed the USA to the brink of socialism and before the end of his term in 2012, I expect the First and Second Amendments to be decimated. If God forbid he is re-elected in 2012 or makes himself supreme leader for life, by 2016 our country will resemble East Germany both economically and in terms of individual liberty.
“Caesar conquers his own country while the citizens cheer.
“The gulf between democracy and populism is the distinction between the people as an actor and the people as a tool. Caesar wields the population as a sword. Heres the real catch though: democracy can never be taken away, it can only be given away. One of the great tragedies of history is how the people are constantly unaware of their own power, even as rulers harness it. De Tocqueville said The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the publics money. Caesar buys the Roman people with their own money, just as Octavian later does. And they love him for it.”
So this is how liberty dies: to thunderous applause. George Lucas wrote at least one true thing.”

I love Ted Nugent, and I dont think he is crazy like alot of people try to portray him to be.
Obama wants to be the new founding father. He doesnt approve of those old whitey founding fathers of the past and thier ideas. Simply put, he doesnt care about Americas past, he doesnt see it as greatness. He has listened to Rev Wright, and Farrakan for years now. He was groomed for most of his life to do exactly what he is doing. And whos there to stop him? Congress? The supreme court? HA!!! The more he lies, and the more blatent the lies, the more the masses buy into it. Logic does not play into it, his popularity is rooted entirely upon rebellion, its a deception so deep - but so blantantly obvious - that it has to be supernatural.
Theres no way he could have kept his birth certificate hidden this long without supernatural help. There have to be thousands of people working in positions that have access to the hundreds of files that would expose him. Simple thuggery couldnt silence them all, especially when leaks are often hard to trace. This guy may indeed be the anti-christ. I can easily see him rising to world power thru deception. Go ahead, call me crazy. But that is just the way I see it.
The founders would be mortified at paying for a “fishing license” nevermind the absurd tax slavery.
I like Ted Nugent in small doses. I like his writing. I like his music. But, in concert he reminds me of the child who says something clever and doesn’t know when to stop repeating himself before it gets old. Perhaps it was just the one concert, but it’s what I noticed. Overall, I do like him.
You say you’re no health care expert. I’d have to agree.
You also say you are 55 years old, your employer pays for your health care insurance and you think something, anything would be better than what is available now.
You should do some reading. If you think your choices are limited now you should know that at your advanced age your choices will be even more limited. You will soon be past your earning (translation: taxpaying) peak and options for diagnostic testing and surgeries will be limited. And the tumor you spoke of - once you have any cancer forget about getting your hip replaced or any subsequent surgery. As Obama made clear: pain medication is what you will get, no repair of your broken hip.
Interesting title. The word mortify comes from the Latin mors, mort meaning to die. The founding fathers are already dead. Definitely mortified.
