I wonder if the cave was used by Christians later on, centuries after it was built.

He waxes his chest.

Although I have to admire the courage it takes to do that I am not sure that it is "manly".

I’m somewhat skeptical of emphatic statements about that long ago.

Actually the history of the use of the cross as a symbol is better known than a lot of stuff. And, we are discussing something that Roman historians noted also.

I am not arguing against your skepticism, but we are talking about a period when there is a written recorded history.

Google "Christian cross history" and see what comes up.

As a former college wrestler, I opine there are actual reasons to do all sorts of shaving one would not normally do.

And think about my name for a bit in the context of my comment.

It was a Roman quarry and occupied by the Romans, although I suppose it was used by others later on.

People used old quarries to sleep in during the summer, even when they had houses because it’s 72 degrees down there, when it’s 102 on the surface. Old school air-conditioning.

Given the nature of the stone, the time, and location, I would be surprised if stone from this quarry was not used for the Second Temple.

The evidence is likely significant and quite convincing.

I just wonder how long it went on covertly . . . and how much of that evidence would have remained over the centuries.

Thanks for the link.
