An apology from David Letterman was good enough for Sarah Palin - but not for protesters who demanded the late night host's dismissal Tuesday at a Broadway demonstration.
"Fire Dave! Fire Dave!" the crowd of about 50 protesters chanted as Letterman fans filtered into the Ed Sullivan Theater for the show's taping.
"I hope to have him see the light," said demonstrator Josephine Sarnok, 59, of Newark. "I think it was over the line."
BettyJean Kling, 61, accused Letterman of using the Alaska governor's family to boost his ratings. She stood by a large plywood sign with the words "Fire the pervert" spray-painted across the front.

Keep the pressure up:
Letter regarding Letterman from Unilever (Hellmans/Best Foods):
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us regarding your disappointment with the program content which contained a commercial for a Unilever product. We never wish to offend anyone and your opinions are appreciated regarding this subject matter. Advertising for Hellmanns or media buys are done months in advance and unfortunately we cant foresee issues in the media before they come up. We appreciate the feedback from our consumers and weve decided to pull our online ads from the Letterman show from our advertising schedule moving forward.
We hope that this information has given you a better understanding of our advertising practices. Thank you again for taking the time to share your views with us. You can be assured that your comments will be considered as we continue to challenge our perceptions about what is appropriate for us in todays environment.
Kind regards,
Your friends at Hellmanns/Best Foods
Any pictures yet?
wow - 50 people - that’ll work alright.
I blocked both CBS stations (regular and high-def) from my cable boxes and wrote a letter to CBS telling them that their channels will stay blocked as long as Letterman works for them.
I’d encourage others to do the same.
Remember, the MSM reported that fifty people attended the Tea Parties.
Whoa! Keep up the PRESSURE!!!
He apologized under heat, and Sarah graciously accepted.
CBS can ignore us, but can't ignore ad revenue losses.
Dave at least maned-up and apologized. Dave is pretty irrelevant at this point. I hate people getting fired for PC reasons, even when they are on the other side. It is our side who will take the most hits.
Has a nice ring, doesn’t it?
Agreed. It’s over, don’t try to turn Dave into a sacrifice to the PC gods. Not that I think that likely.
That’ll work ... I don’t watch network news, international, national or local. I get what I want on the internet ....there’s several good websites out there (drudge, newsbusters, patriotroom, etc).
Good for her, she's been defending herself , ALONE, for way too long.....it is about time WE stood up and declared NO LONGER good enough for us. The perv needs to be fired. Anything less is UNACCEPTABLE!
he manned up because he’s already lost one major advertiser (Embassy Suites) and is probably in jepordy of losing others...
