Colo., NY reps want regulation of gas 'fracking'
Associated Press ^ | 06/04/2009 | JUDITH KOHLER

The push to put a widely used oil and gas drilling process under federal oversight could gain ground with a new administration in place and concerns about the development of huge gas fields in the East.

Democratic Reps. Diana DeGette of Colorado and Maurice Hinchey of New York plan to reintroduce a bill that would repeal a ban on regulating the process, called hydraulic fracturing, under the federal Safe Drinking Water Act.

The exemption was part of the 2005 energy bill and followed an Environmental Protection Agency report that found there was little or no threat to underground drinking water from the process.

Fracking is a great tool that oil firms use to revive domestic oil fields. Shutting this process down would have a backdoor effect of shutting down domestic oil production.

I hate these people.

“I hate these people.”

Well, I don’t know if I do or not, but I sure dislike the writer or the article.

It seems to have been written by a Kerry campaign writer. I can’t tell if I’m for or against the darn thing.

I hate these people.

They deserve it. Every bit of it.

Either their objective is to shut down the domestic oil & gas industry...or they're simply stupid.

In either event, they have no business writing legislation.

I had friends that used Amway's LOC soap for fracking. Apparently it was a superior emulsifier and low sudsing.

Gets into those crevices and pushes oil and gas right out.

Here's an unappreciated but more and more common phrase nowadays:

The bill also would require companies..."

How much more will America take?

Bejeesus, hydraulic fracturing has been around since the 1930’s at least. Some frac jobs use sand to prop open the fissures so the oil and gas can leave the formation and migrate to the well bore. Properly set surface casing, which is cemented well below groundwater depths, insures against contamination. These people are lunatics.

Amway's LOC soap

That stuff is great for a lot of things. Amway products were always great. But it was sort of a pain to deal with the distributor.

When do they start coming door to door to put bullets through our heads? Is there anything ELSE they'd like to regulate? How about farting? picking one’s nose? Burping? AGHHHH!

"Democratic Reps. Diana DeGette of Colorado and...plan to reintroduce a bill that would repeal a ban on regulating the process,..."

But she's fine with having a shallow water well with cesspools right next it in her own State ('cause a big, fat, leftist schoolteacher lives there and wants to keep it that way).

I’m just waiting for several more million to reach the point I have. I can be ready in a couple hours, and so can my husband.

I would call them Watermelons, but that would insult a rather tasty fruit.

There ultimate goal is to starve us into submission.

Curbing energy will ultimately create food shortages.

Triple negatives make my head spin. For a moment there, I thought these guys were uncharacteristically doing something good.
