WASHINGTON – A bill approved by the House of Representatives and referred to the Senate would prohibit federal employees of executive branch from being compelled to release any document unless a court makes a specified determination by a preponderance of evidence – legislation at least one group suspects is designed to protect Barack Obama's elusive birth certificate from release.
The legislation, HR 985, resides in the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Sovereignty Alliance has issued a "red alert" about the bill it calls "stealth legislation ... to protect Obama from providing his birth certificate."

Looking at it closer you make a good point. And the Fed employee is compelled by whom? By the Freedom of Information Act? By what? So the Fed employee can give info willingly if the law is not violated? And who decides what is enough to qualify as preponderance of evidence? I suppose the court does.

same thoughts I have had on this. I really thought beck would jump into this before the others. now I admit I was not paying this story much attention in the time leading up to the election, but I wonder just how much the clintons knew about this? they both have a well deserved rep for not missing any dirt that could be tossed around in their favor. any thoughts in that regard B?

If he’s ineligible than this law can’t be legally passed so it can’t be used to protect him. Even if Biden, to whom the presidency would fall if Ø were disqualified, were to co-sign it it still wouldn’t protect him because Ø wouldn’t be an executive branch employee. Rather he would be guilty of defrauding the government $129k, to date, in pro-rated salary to start a long litany of charges. Signing this could be another charge as part of the cover-up.

To be honest about the driver’s license requirement involving the birth certificate...I’ve already heard stories of people testing the system with fake or forged birth certificates. The dimwit clerks who usually work at the license bureau simply must carry out the law....they aren’t going to check to make sure it’s a true or real birth certificate.
When folks talk about the possibility of creating a national ID card....the start-up of such a event would involve you showing a birth certificate...so the fake issue comes right back up, and you might see 300,000 fake ID’s created off such a scheme (my belief).
The idea of citizenship...in my mind....is gone. It doesn’t exist anymore. Anyone can fake out the system.

“(a) Conditions for Compelled Disclosure- In any matter arising under Federal law, a Federal entity may not compel a covered person to provide testimony or produce any document related to information obtained or created by such covered person as part of engaging in journalism, unless a court determines by a preponderance of the evidence, after providing notice and an opportunity to be heard to such covered person—”
“(2) COVERED PERSON- The term `covered person’ means a person who regularly gathers, prepares, collects, photographs, records, writes, edits, reports, or publishes news or information that concerns local, national, or international events or other matters of public interest for dissemination to the public for a substantial portion of the person’s livelihood or for substantial financial gain and includes a supervisor, employer, parent, subsidiary, or affiliate of such covered person. Such term shall not include—”
Nor has he demonstrated that Barry Soetoro isn’t his legal name.
Exactly. That’s what I got out of it when I read it. This is to provide protection for journalists as a last resort. When all other avenues have been pursued, only then can a federal entity compel them to release documentation.
