Exactly. That’s what I got out of it when I read it. This is to provide protection for journalists as a last resort. When all other avenues have been pursued, only then can a federal entity compel them to release documentation.

I've occasionally wondered, was Judy Miller fired for her Valerie Plame story and how she handled her sources, or because New York Times editors decided she was a Bush tool because she rode a tank and didn't ice-pick Bush during the Iraq War?
