Once billed as the most popular governor in America, Alaska Republican Sarah Palin has seen her popularity take a dive. According to a recent Hays Research poll, 54% of Alaskans have either a very or somewhat positive view of the governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee while 42% have a very or somewhat negative view. The results are vastly different than a similar poll taken by Hays Research about a year ago which gave Palin an 86% positive rating and a 9% negative rating.

Baloney......Americans and Alaskans are REALLY SOUR ON PELOSI.
WSJ.... me know when you get your “power of reason” back, ‘cause you guys have lost it.
Take a BHO poll in Alaska......and get back with me about how horrible Sarah’s Numbers are.
If they are tired of her in Alaska, let her move to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Washington, D.C.
“Propaganda works on the sheep, apparently.”
It’s all about the money; Palin has refused any government bail-out money. Obama, Reid, Pelosia, and their minions have made whores out the mindless idiots who only care about the now...
Great suggestion!
I agree. If you only poll 100 Democrats regarding the performance of a Republican governor, you will get similar responses. Considering the onslaught of NEGATIVE, NASTY, and DESPICABLE attacks she's had to deal with, I'd say she's done extremely well. I am still reminded of her nickname, and I don't think this stuff is doing much more than making her take names for future reference.
Your is a point well worth repeating. Not only do the MSM do negative reporting on conservative candidates they also withhold reporting of good news or well attended speeches. I remember the absence of reporting on Fred Thompson's run for the Republican nomination accompanied by claims that he was lazy and uninspiring.
The absence of positive reporting is just as destructive as false and negative reporting.
I don’t know where they get their figues. Everyone, and I mean everyone I talk to, left and right, think she is doing a fine job. Yeah, there are little complaints here and there, but over all, people respect her.
No campaigning, media full of bad news, not just about her, but life and the economy in general and she is sitting at 54%, it looks fine to me.
Check out this Rasmussen chart on Governor approval rates to see where numbers like that put her in relation to Governors in general.(it is high)

The Anchorage Daily News is owned by McClatchy -- the same idiots that publish the Miami Herald, the Sac Bee, the Kansas City Star, the Fort Worth Star Telegram, and several other rags.
McClatchy is about as Liberal MSM as they come. And McClatchy is going broke about as fast as the other liberal MSM wipes.
I can testify to the accuracy of your comment, redpoll. The ADN’s smearing of Governor Palin has been beyond the pale. It is blatant, it is insidious, it is non-stop, and it is typical of the liberal bias of the MSM.
Did you see the cover of the ADN on the day before, or the day of (can’t remember which) election day?! I was at our local store and saw it. They had slapped a Vote for Obama sticker on the front page of each and every edition.
The ADN doesn’t get one damn dime from this Alaskan.
By the way, the same goes for the Fairbanks Newsminer.
By the way, the same goes for the Fairbanks Newsminer.
same polling and sampling methodologies in both polls.
So we are told.
No Alaska is very republican.. or conservative..
Which doesn’t tell us how fair either one was. They could be picking up a societally disproportional number of fickle persons.
She turned down 28.6 million of 931 million in federal aid. 0.3% of the total. Woo-hoo!!
Here's a list of Hays Research's clients from its website:
The New York TimesHere's their pre-election 2008 final poll for Alaska:The Daily Kos
The Washington Post
CBS News
Congressional Quarterly
Talking Points Memo
The Politico
McCain/Palin 46.6%
Undecided - Lean McCain/Palin 1.7%
Obama/Biden 43.9%
Undecided - Lean Obama/Biden 0.7%
Other Candidate 2.0%
Don't Know / Refused 5.1%
And here's the actual from 2 days later:
McCain/Palin 59.8%
Obama/Biden 38%
I think I'll wait for more reliable results before I pronounce her politically dead. Another poll reported a couple of weeks ago in the ADN showing actual projected matchups against real Democrat opponents showed nobody in Alaska could beat her in a race for Governor...nobody.
Forgot to add, I still don’t think she runs for re-election anyway. JMO.
Al B., I was just going to post this...thanks for saving me the trouble. I can’t believe (what am I saying..of course I can believe it) that so much is being made of this one “poll” of 400 Alaskans—with no party identity noted! Who knows-—maybe 80% of them were Dems. This poll is clearly an outlier-—add to that the past record of the pollster. How could any reputable pollster miss the Presidential race by so flippin’ much? A few points, sure....but by 19 points in a presidential call? Absurd.
Hang in there, Sarah. We love you.
