Yeah, I know. Said some similar things about Bush in 2000. But at least he was pro-life, pro-family, etc, and thank God we supported him over the idiot All Green Gore.
Said similar things about McCain in 2008. But when asked the question "when does human life begin?," and he unabashedly stated, "At conception, of course," I had to take notice. Then when he announced Sarah Palin as his running mate, I decided to support her. I voted for Sarah (and the white haired old geezer that came along with the package).
But Romney is a NO go. And I don't care who this socialist, abortionist, homosexualist, constitution trampling bastard picks for running mate. If Romney's in I'm out!
G.O.P., R.I.P!
It is if you are a Mitt supporter, but I digress...
I missed that.
Just one more strike against him...
As if he need more in my book...
Well, I figured out that Rudy, McCain and Huckster aren’t Mormons so I’ve got that going for me. ;^)
Indeed...
Of course if you apply “Mittbot Logic” and Huck, McCain etc. WERE LDS members, then they would magically become rock solid conservatives fixtures...

I'm a "Yankee", but I was surprised at that.
Well, I'm actually still awaiting a reply from Restornu to her comment re: This kind of spirit will not attract the goodness we need to restore our constitution.
To repeat my question from post #524: So you believe, Resty, in the Mormon "White Horse Prophecy" that Joseph Smith made & dozens of LDS leaders-to-follow believed? That the constitution would supposedly "hang by a thread" and that the Mormons would rush in to save it -- including "Zion's elders?"
The 'White Horse Prophesy' by LDS so-called "prophet" Joseph Smith: We shall build the Zion of the Lord in peace untill the servants of that Lord shall begin to lay the foundation of a great and high watch Tower and then shall they begin to say within themselves, what need hath my Lord of this tower seeing this is a time of peace &c. Then the Enemy shall come as a thief in the night and scatter the servants abroad. When the seed of these 12 Olive trees are scattered abroad they will wake up the Nations of the whole Earth. Even this Nation will be on the very verge of crumbling to pieces and tumbling to the ground and when the constitution is upon the brink of ruin this people will be the Staff up[on] which the Nation shall lean and they shall bear the constitution away from the very verge of destruction. (The Historians Corner, BYU Studies, Vol. 19, No. 3, p. 391-392)
LDS "prophets" from Brigham Young (commented on it as early as 1854) to Ezra Taft Benson (commented on it in 1975) all believed the "White Horse prophesy" to be a future American reality. And many LDS general authorities and even a BYU president repeatedly commented on it.
Two comments by LDS general authorities (one by a "prophet" and another by an "apostle" are especially interesting for their religious-political overtones):
John Taylor was with Joseph Smith when he died -- surviving a wound -- and went on to become an LDS "prophet": The Almighty has established this kingdom with order and laws and every thing pertaining thereto [so] that when the nations shall be convulsed, we may stand forth as saviours and finally redeem a ruined world, not only in a religious but in a political point of view. (Journal of Discourses, vol. 9, p. 342, April 13, 1862)
LDS apostle Orson Hyde: What the world calls Mormonism will rule every nation...God has decreed it, and his own right arm will accomplish it. This will make the heathen rage. (Journal of Discourses, vol. 7, p. 53)
So, don't you all look forward to when this LDS apostle's and "prophets'" extended "prophesies" will come into fruition? Why, supposedly "Mormonism will rule every nation" because they will be our "religious...and political" saviors!
Yes, Reaganaut mentioned this on another thread. She said that she thought it was interesting that Romney dropped out a week after Hinckley died. (She surmised the possibility that Romney was being encouraged to run for POTUS by SLC HQ -- as a potential fulfillment of the "White Horse Prophesy" -- and that when Hinckley died, that hierarchical "encouragement" was no longer present)
Which explains why Jim dumped on them too since it's theoretically possible that they could be LDS in some alternate universe. NOW I understand.
(I think I need to sit down ... the room is spinning wildly. Oh, wait! I am sitting down.)
Add, well paid and well brainwashed.
Jim's thread, Jim's theme...are you sure you want to stand by that post?
You mean by virtue of necro-baptism, we could all become "Mormon" in some future alternative universe? Is that what LDS "prophet" John Taylor meant when he repeatedly said Mormons would be our "saviors?"
"...that we are the only people that understand anything about the present position or the cause of the organization of the world and man, and that understand anything correctly about a preparation for a future state; that we are the only people that know how to save our progenitors, how to save ourselves, and how to save our posterity in the celestial kingdom of God; that we are the people God has chosen by whom to establish his kingdom and introduce correct principles into the world; and that we are in fact the saviours of the world, if they are ever saved." (John Taylor, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 6, pp. 162-163)
Maybe everybody better hedge their bets & start kow-towing down to these "Mormon saviors" now. (And then again, maybe not).
I would hate to sit out on an election.
WOW, LE, no one could have said it better!! One heck of a post, girl, and exactly true! : )
Well, honestly no it wasn't that. It was this gem of logic that led me to wonder...
It would be so cool if you were against all RHINOS and not just Mormon ones.
Given my own path I'm not about to get into the doctrines of other's. But I'd certainly like to know how one arrives at a conclusion like that without accounting for Jim's opinions on Rudy Toot, Juan McCain and the Huckster. There's a missing link in there somewhere.
‘you and company have nothing new to say”
This was the best part of my post.
While Romneys platform for the national race was conservative, it was also brand new and created for the new group of voters.
The Romney family is so anti-American that no Romney man has ever served this nation as a patriot in uniform, Mitts father is famously known as the anti-war presidential candidate from the sixties that claimed the military brainwashed him, a time when a young 17 year old Mitt witnessed his father storming out of the 1964 Republican convention as a protest against Goldwater and the conservative movement and a time when Mitt himself was avoiding the draft living in France, and a time when he claims that he and his family were strongly pro-abortion.
Romney dropped his Republican registration and became an independent in opposition to President Reagan and conservatism and he only gave money to liberal Democrat candidates for years until early 1993 when he registered Republican to run for office, he was still in opposition to Newt Gingrich and the conservative movement and he desired to open the hated military fully to homosexuals.
Until recently Romney was pro amnesty and famously ran a sanctuary mansion, over 11 years he was twice exposed in the national press for having in service at his home a company made up almost entirely of illegals ran by a nationalized Colombian legal.
In preparation for the national race Mitt Romney had a startling series of epiphanies and at roughly age sixty became pro-life, anti amnesty, a life long hunter and a gun owner, a life time member of the NRA, he suddenly became a man that longed to serve in Vietnam, a lover of Reagan and conservatives, a strong pro military guy, etc, etc, etc.
To this day no one can figure out what he believes in or what he wants, he won one election during all these years and he couldnt win reelection to that office, he is something of a political loser but an effective spoiler.
The persistent anti-Romney posters are the nastiest, most obnoxious and dishonest posters I have EVER encountered and MOST of them are anti-mormon. A good many are democrat infiltrators. They repeatedly tell boldfaced LIES about Romney after they've been corrected countless times.
The never ending abuse they heap upon Mormons is a shameful disgrace(and no secret on FR), and they have chased many Mormons away, all fine, decent, dignified posters who suffered the most vicious attacks. There is NOTHING conservative about such tactics. They are frankly right out of the Saul Salinsky democratic playbook. We should ALWAYS avoid using that kind of strategy on our own and reserve it for use against the EVIL anti-American Democrat/Socialist FREAKS who developed it in the first place.
One more piece of advice: find out what you're talking about before opening your mouth. Otherwise, one tends to look like an utter fool.
There are no attacks on Mormons. The only attacks
are against FReepers by morons like yourself.
Why do you keep you head up Romney's rear end, anyway?
Romney is a threat to Democrats and they know it. And so do you.
If Mitt Romney is in, I'm out!

Nonsense. The Democrats LOVE Romney because he is an easy target.
You might listen to their chief strategist, grasshopper.
James Carville (DNC): "It's a feel-good story, this Romney thing. Romney is an ascendant guy."
