DETROIT, MI - General Motors intends to create a new auto division as part of its plan to avoid Chapter 11 bankruptcy, according to sources inside the company. The division will focus on the production of wind hybrids - a new, yet unproven technology that combines wind power, battery operated electrical motors and conventional gasoline engines. Executives believe the move will satisfy consumer demand for environmentally friendly cars and fulfill government requirements for continued public funding...

Is this story from the Onion? It is got to be a joke, right??
I would take it, but it wouldn’t fit in my garage. Of course, neither would the other one unless that windmill is a fold down.
When gas was 4.25 per gallon last summer suv's was not their best business segment. Personally I'm all for GM going this hi-tech route. This will be the future and I would rather GM and the US obtain the patents and money from the sales versus China or Japan.
This is good.....Ford will make Millions building the hot selling SUVs that GM can’t build.
A Fed Govt. rescue plan for FORD ....kill off the Competition !
If we cease producing SUVs and light pickups in this country, will Japan cease producing them for sale here also? Seriously, I wonder if Congress will go toe to toe with Japan and try to prevent them from producing and selling them in this country!
Until gas goes to $4.00 + per gallon this summer...
That’s pronounced with a long “i” - as in “wind-up”. These card will come with a big key on the back, which you wind up before you leave. You will know they are coming by the “clack-clack” sound they make.
Latest technology from Congressional Motors.
Good one...
Bye bye, GM. Thanks for the memories.
I don’t understand the mentality on this site sometimes.
Last summer when gas was high and suv sales tanked, freepers critized GM for not building other types of cars-fro having alltheir eggs inone basket. Now GM is building the cars of the future and they are now again critized for wanting to get away from suv’s??
Does anyone know what’s going to happen to the Hummer? Will that division be sold or scrapped? I like the Hummers, the 2’s.
.....
On the contrary. They've been given a guarantee by B.O. that he will force Americans to buy them under the guise of "saving the planet".
That's when we'll get to see just how many dumbded-down duped dufus' there are in this country who will put up with it.
I can’t wait to get mine. Of course, it will need to be regularly washed to remove the bird debris that will accumulate from being sliced and diced from the propeller - er - windmill.
I believe that gas price last year was artificially jacked up, and not indicative of where the price would normally be. As I understand it, SUV sales have rebounded and are still an important part of GM’s business plan.
I’m all for R&D of new technologies. When those come online, I’m all for producing vehicles that incorporate it into their designs, and are desired by the public.
Until then, destroying a segment that helps keep your business afloat, is nothing more or less than corporate suicide.
