“The enemy learned something important tonight.
We won’t shoot first.
“
Good thing, too. This isn’t the Soviet Union.
This incident ended without shooting, so why would you be so demanding that it should have? Should speeding tickets result in shooting the driver? Where do you want the tyrannical violence to stop, only with you?
I am sure if the plane had strayed towards a high value target it would not have mde it but just to shoot it down is pure thuggery of Communism.
F-16 Ping
UGH... But yet, Obama says “we’re not at war with Islam”? Chances are if the guy is from Turkey he’s Muslim! Hey, Obama... Doesn’t matter if we are at war with THEM or not! THEY are at war with US!
Thank God no-one was hurt...
I’m sure he just wanted an innocent vacation in the U.S.... < /sarcasm >
Um, the man flew a stolen plane into U.S. Airspace without authorization, and wouldn’t respond to his “escorts” for HOURS flying from Canada to MISSOURI and there is no way he didn’t pass over areas with larger populations even if he did somehow avoid some of our largest metro areas! He also landed in the middle of a ROAD! He put people’s lives in danger, and we are lucky it ended “peacefully”.
I’m not saying they definitely SHOULD have shot him down as soon as they got in range or anything like that — our pilots follow the orders and protocol they are given.
BUT, to compare shooting down an unresponsive suspicious plane like this to someone being shot for speeding, is ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS!
Student pilot steals plane and is chased down by F16’s? Guess this means he’ll have to wait until being released from Leavenworth before be get’s his license. Things are sure getting wierd these days.
Incorrect.
They reaped a treasure trove of info at zero cost.
Also, there’s plenty this muslim Turk could have and possibly did do and no jet pilot would know the difference, even 100 lateral feet away. If he was successful the government will cover it up per usual.
“Restraint” and fear of “political fallout” don’t win a holy war (Jihad); they only ensure our demise.
Try flying unannounced into Israel and see how it SHOULD have been handled.
Crunch Buttsteak is a reference from MST3K’s “Space Mutiny”;
in fact Mike and the bots would refer to the Cessna as “Petey The Plane” and probably ask if the pilot was Coleman Francis.
There is a lot more to this story if you read what this pilot accompished during the flight and then was able to land under a bridge or culvert in an attempt to hide the plane.
Must be a fast learner!! I think the 'brief' period at the flight school was surveilance on how to hi-jack that plane - so his mission was accomplished. I'm sure SOME people learned a lot from this entire experiment.
Ping.
Ellsinore is right on the way to Current River, when we go there. If this guy won’t talk, a few extended dips in one of the nice cold springs might correct the problem. For starters, we can learn everything he might have been trying to learn.

SNIPPET: “Two F-16 fighters began to escort the Cessna after it crossed into U.S. airspace from Canada at 4:23 EDT over Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, ABC said. As the pilot flew over Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Missouri, he ignored repeated requests that he contact air controllers on the ground.
ABC said Canadian officials told U.S. officials Burke had been treated Friday for depression, and that he left a good-bye note for his girlfriend.”
Oh-ho! Here’s the report from a local TV station:

Do you suppose the 11:27:40 commenter might not be “making up” his story (gave the guy a ride???)? It seems a little far-fetched...
OBOT!
I was riding with a cousin out of FF near Ellinsore, and he landed right in front of us. He got out and started walking, we pulled up next to him and asked him what happened. He told us he ran out of gas, and wanted to know where the closest gas station was. We told him Simmons was a little less then a mile away. He asked for a ride. My cousin being the too much of a nice guy, gave him a ride to Simmons. He even asked me for some change to make a phone call. I figured he was a pilot that ran out of gas, not a Canadian that stole a plane and landed in Carter County!"

Hmmm... Simmons is quite a ways from Ellsinore -- several miles on the other side of Van Buren, in fact...
You know what’s up when they cannot speak to his name, country of origin or religion.
If he was a natural US citizen, white and Christian it would be the lede.
“Must be a fast learner!!”
Yes, I was thinking that, too.
That's odd. the other thread on this topic said that the FBI said the guy was from the school but not a student. Wonder which is true.
I like MST3K but don't get to see it very often -- I don't own the remote at hone.
I do get to see *lots* of "Man Vs. Wild" and "Mythbusters", however ;-)
Cheers!
I appreciate that info-- no matter how many times I tried to get off my state's list ( to avoid all that chatter cluttering up the top ) it didn't change a damn thing.
Switching locations worked like a charm...
