Officials say GM Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner will step down immediately at request of the White House.
Neither will I! And, at the looks of the GM/Chrysler empty car lots we aren't the only ones!
Correct, but they’re still infested with the UAW parasite that funnels money to Obama.
Politically, it WOULD be nice to hang the collapse of GM on Obama.
May 7th, 2007 Presidential Candidate Says U.S. Energy Policy Must Change; Offers Plan To Help Automakers Detroit (AP)
Obama said his plan encourages domestic automakers to make fuel-efficient hybrid vehicles by giving them health care assistance for retirees. Federal financial assistance would cover 10 percent up to $7 billion of automakers annual legacy health care costs through 2017, under Obamas plan, which would require automakers to invest at least half of their health care savings into technology to produce fuel-efficient cars.
It starts with our cars, because if we truly hope to end the tyranny of oil, the nation must once again turn to Detroit for another great transformation, Obama said.

As a second choice, Obamas plan would provide $3 billion to automakers over 10 years to help retool plants to make fuel-efficient cars and trucks.
The need to drastically change our energy policy is no longer a debatable proposition. It is not a question of whether, but how; not a question of if, but when. For the sake of our security, our economy, our jobs and our planet, the age of oil must end in our time, Obama said.

Heh, we don’t make them for NEW Jaguars, but older models that are no longer adequately supported by Jaguar.
[Correct, but theyre still infested with the UAW parasite that funnels money to Obama.]
Yes, they are.
I have one that’s post-BL and one that’s post-Ford but pre-Ford-under-Nasser-screwups.
GM and Chrysler Will Get More Help, With Tighter Strings
Even though the automakers haven’t delivered promised debt restructuring, they appear set to get billions more in taxpayer dollars

President Barack Obama will likely throw General Motors (GM) and Chrysler a lifeline on Monday, Mar. 30.
Neither company has met its targets. So the President and his Auto Task Force will likely promise the two companies enough cash to keep going for the next few weeks or months

“There won’t be any grand commitments,” says David E. Cole, chairman of the Ann Arbor (Mich.)-based Center for Automotive Research, which has advised the task force. “I think they will give the company, union, and bondholders a firm deadline to get everything done or they go to Plan B. They won’t like Plan B.”
GM, in one of their bet the ranch moments, invested a zillion dollars in hydrogen propulsion. It was supposed to change the world. Haven't seen a hydrogen car yet but it makes sense. Maybe Bawney and Obama have a plan? Be a real screamer if Ford was the last one standing! It would prove that private family control is the best form of capital allocation. Worked for Krupp. Could work here too!
I should also mention - my wiring harnesses are made in Texas, with most of the components made in Texas, and a few parts made elsewhere. It makes financial sense for us to do this.
It also makes financial sense to have some of our other products made elsewhere, or made from parts from India, Taiwan, England, etc., etc. I still can’t find a US-made cupholder that’s got good quality control - but the Taiwanese do a bangup job of it!
oh yeh, that would be sweet.
Well, yes. Then I guess the chartreuse would make sense!
Cheers!
Next, Obama will be sketching car designs on napkins and sending him to the new CEO.
Also: I don’t know what my customer wanted with a chartreuse wiring harness. More importantly, I don’t care. All I know is that they wanted one, they were willing to pay for it, so I made it. Their money spends just as well as anyone else’s.
Please refer to post #160.
And that would mean we now see a form of ‘nationalized car company.’
Like’em/hate’m 0bama is just picking the low hanging fruit. This is where conservatives are cheering right along with the democrats...Oh he was a bad boss, ran the company into the ground etc.
To many here:
Stop and think who is now running the company. It is not you, it is not me, it is not the marketplace, or the shareholders. It is the government.
The silver lining here is that the goobermint runs the post office, FANNY, FREDDIE and Medicare/Medicaid. So, real car makers will have nothing to fear! Ford will do well and Crysler is as good as gone anyway.
My grandfather is rolling in his grave. Lifelong republican and plant manager at GM. He knew this day was coming when, in high school, he told me to never buy a GM car- buy a Japanese one. He was insightful 20+ years ago.
