preserve union jobs

Exactly!

Obama has them on his reelection campaign!

"I do not view the labor movement as part of the problem. To me it's part of the solution."
-- President Barack Obama, Jan. 30, 2009

"We need to level the playing field for workers and the unions that represent their interests, because we know that you cannot have a strong middle class without a strong labor movement," the president said. "When workers are prospering, they buy products that make businesses prosper. We can be competitive and lean and mean and still create a situation where workers are thriving in this country."

Dear Mr. Kessler, your Trebant will be delivered to you within the next 15 years. What color would you like?

Love, Barack!

Give me some examples of manufacturing companies that are doing well.

If you will pay attention, April Lexington has given you an example!

Per Fox News reporter, Jeff Goldblatt (I believe), Wagoner was forced out ‘by the government’.

This is what Chavez did when he nationalized the petroleum industry. Bambi's not even subtle.

My German wife said the exact same thing. Amazing how clearly they see through Obama’s BS.

It would be a blow to SOME peoples economy, but a boon to others( but they are going to be taxed anyways, so screw’m. Right?)

Let the Japanese, Koreans, Germans build, manage and more importantly, subsidise their manufactures here.

You have not read the fundamental economics fallacy of fixing the broken window.

You see GM. I see thousands of productive, innovative, profitable small to medium manufacturers that are suck to weakness by taxes to support bloated, elderly, slow moving, political, outdated, low quality GM and Chrysler.

What is given to them, is taken from another. Which you seem to defend.

There is boatloads of money sloshing around the world. GM could not beg, find, borrow, sell or get any of that. That, is called a clue.

Naturally you, Obama, GM losers, and the unions, none of which are putting up their money, think otherwise.

Interesting that they have such distinct models overseas. There is quite a bit of replication/overlap among GM brands here.

At one time in a prior career I was an automotive journalist in Detroit, and I interviewed Mr. Wagoner on several occasions. He was a prototypical GM finance guy who rose through the ranks with no special attributes that would have singled him out to run one of the largest corporations (actually, the MODEL for Drucker’s “Concept of the Corporation” so long ago) in the world. He's a boxed in thinker who believes more of the same will be good enough. I hate Obama, but if he fired Wagoner, I give him credit (at least until he announces that Barney Frank will replace him...)

It sounds like you're calling me out. Why?

Perhaps Obama will tap Michael Moore for the top position in GM.

Who wants to buy a car made by the government??

There is not enough beer in Milwaukee to get me to buy one.

Given proper control of GM, my *cat* could run it. Successfully.

A statement of breathtaking stupidity if you are even half serious. Have you ever worked in a manufacturing environment? Do you know how difficult it is to manufacture here today in the US?

GM CAN make cars as good or better than the Japanese. It's just about impossible to do this and make money given their cost structure. Do you even know what cost structure is?

It's one thing to build a great car. It's another thing to build a great car you can make money on. That's the problem. All the US car companies are in trouble to some degree. Even the foreign manufacturers are in trouble. Nobody is buying cars today.

Just what world class vehicles that sell like mad are you talking about? Give me some examples. Do you even know what you are talking about. It doesn't seem like it.

Next time let your cat post. Your cat could probably make a better argument than what you have.

The problem is that the President of the US does not and should not have the power to “fire” any executive of any private company. This is blatant, it’s being done on a weekend in hopes that fewer people will notice, and if you think Wagoner is going to be the only one, I fear you’ll be sadly mistaken.

[The White House confirmed Wagoner was leaving at the government’s behest after The Associated Press reported his immediate departure, without giving a reason.

On Monday, President Obama is to unveil his plans for the auto industry, including a response to a request for additional funds by GM and Chrysler.]

WTF?

Obama is now coming out with Gov’t plans for the auto industry? THIS IS A NIGHTMARE!

What a tyrant!

Nobody is buying cars today.

Someone forgot to tell my neighbor that because he has bought four new cars since he, wife and daughter moved in less than fifteen months ago!

Hitler meets with Nazi arm patch wearing Volkswagen officieals to review the then equivalent of their green car. Germany was 'short' of natural resources, like oil that they believed was controlled by the crypto Jew, Rockefeller. The United States was then the Saudi Arabia of oil.
