To those who say that "the Pope has no idea what he's talking about":

Widespread condom use does not change the cultural problem: ignorance concerning HIV/AIDS and often promiscuity.

The 'A' and 'B' parts of the ABC approach, abstinence and being faithful, are far more effective in changing the culture.

As well, the Pope's interest is to preserve both body and soul. One should not expect him to promote something that is evil and will kill the soul because "it works" to prevent the illness (which in this case IMO remains to be proven).

AIDS was identified more than 25 years ago. We all know how it’s spread. In very simple terms, behavior modification will prevent someone from getting AIDS. Why is it that after billions and billions of dollars have been spent on distributing condoms and AIDS education, millions are still getting infected.

If you don’t have sex, you won’t get AIDS. End of discussion.

Some priests and nuns working with victims of the AIDS pandemic ravaging Africa question the church's opposition to condoms.

Ah, but just look how many babies have been started, using a condom and most physicians will tell you that many STDs will NOT be prevent merely by using condoms.

It's obvious that the "some priests and nuns" are believing the liberal group think that condoms are the answer to any sexual related problem. They are NOT.

It's the behavior that must change not the method.

He’s 100% correct. Condom usage just promotes the disordered idea that procreation can be divorced from the sexual act. It can’t. And when you try to do so, you end up with all the other societal ills that come with the contraceptive mentality—STDs, abortion, broken families, emotional and spiritual destruction, mental illness, etc.
