Maybe nobodys noticed I havent heard any pundits mention that Obamas next tax scheme punishes married successful people even more than unmarried successful people.
As I understand it, Obamas tax attack begins at $200,000 of income for an individual but only $250,000 for a married couple. So, if I earn $399,000.00 and my wife is a stay-at-home Mom, we should divorce and live in sin, and I should shift $199,500 of the income to her. If two people are married, each earning $150,000 ($300,000 as a couple), they should divorce and escape the new tax punishments targeted at The Rich. If they stay married, they get slaughtered. If they get single, they are spared the shearing.
This is a very interesting piece of social engineering, diametrically opposite the favor historically shown to married couples by the tax code. Perhaps it is in philosophical synergy with federal funding for abortion on demand, or maybe just an odd accident.
As an incidental item, it spotlights just how foolish and unfair social engineering by tax policy always is. For everything somebody judges good and encourages with tax code manipulation, there is behavior judged bad (success and too much wealth) to be punished, and havoc ensues.

You are the MOST dangerous of all, thankfully. You realize that hard work and success “makes you a TARGET”. This morning I had coffee with a business man who NEEDS five additional employees for his growing business. Yesterday he REFUSED to accept a new project that would have required those 5 new employees. WHY? The five additional people would have put his TOTAL EMPLOYMENT above a triggering number that put into operation a long list of state mandated laws, regulations, directives, and taxes. In a time of recession and deep business downturn, more activity WAS NOT WORTH IT.
What a wonderful time we live in.
Probably true. But my understanding is that over half of Americans now pay no taxes at all. That's a majority of votes that may go to the politician who is willing to soak singles earning upwards of 100-200K (or anyone else!). That's the strategy for 2012.
No one is safe now. There's a mob of people out there who want pie, and they think your pantry may have something tasty.
Sorry, I did not mean you you, but us you. Got it? ;-]
More laws mean more criminals.
The President is going after married homosexuals. /sarcasm
I know! Just was amused by that and had to say something.
No harm, no foul. : )
Then why is it that gays are pushing so hard for gay marriage?
We have heterosexuals who want to live together without marriage and gays who want to get married.
One does wonder what she will do about it when this guy gets caught with some of his boyfriends rolling around the Oval office nekkid doing vile things to each other.
That I do not know. All I know is my wife and I pay about 4-5% higher taxes as a married couple than if we were “living in sin”.
They can SPONSOR an angry mob with pitchforks and torches.
Nah... they'll just declare marriage as an archaic and outdated institution that our society has outgrown. That's the goal, anyway, to destroy the primary God-created human institution.
“You can’t rule innocent men...”
The underlying agenda is not for gays to “get married” -
it’s to UNDEFINE marriage, and destroy the institution.
I probably know the answer to my own question. It is because high-income RATS don’t pay their taxes anyway so what would tax laws mean to gays? They can ignore the tax laws. Tax laws are only meant for Republicans.
A friend of mine and fellow member of The Targeted has placed this bumper sticker on his car: Buy Nothing Until Hes Gone.
Interesting bumper sticker.
I’m glad somebody has brought up the massive marriage tax implied in these numbers. Of course nobody in the regular press seems to have noticed. Honestly, I still cannot believe that the $200,000 single $250,000 married figures are correct but they seem to be what are being routinely quoted.
That’s going to affect their tax revenues.
Looking for it - not on zazzle or cafe press...
obviously they don’t view the tax code as a revenue generation tool, or they’d LOWER taxes and increase revenue as has been done many times, historically.
They care way more about CONTROL.
