Americans Fighting Back Against Obama’s Socialism
Canada Free Press ^ | February 25, 2009 | Tom Deweese

Posted on 02/25/2009 7:37:27 AM PST by Scanian

Barack Obama and his Democrat majority may think they have a mandate to transform our nation into a European style social democracy, but Americans apparently have a different idea.

First, as we watch the stock market continuing its free fall, keep in mind the reason - Americans are taking their money out of the stock market. There are now millions of dollars sitting one the sidelines, waiting to see what happens. People are taking their wealth into their own hands to preserve it. I did that too.

Second, it’s interesting to note that the market started this latest fall as soon as the so called Stimulus package was passed in Congress. The market understands that this was not gong to stimulate anything, rather it was a massive tool to create bigger government than ever before dreamed of in this country.

In addition, the bailout money is being used to literally nationalize industry and there is a move on to nationalize banks. If government owns and controls the market place then there is no free market and nothing to invest in. We have watched the market sink by 50% of its former value in the past year and the fall continues. If there is no free market, it could in fact, fall to nothing because the stock market is a reflection of a free market. Government control produces nothing but misery and ultimate poverty.

“States are now also declaring Sovereignty”....

If Zero keeps it up, he will be the “King of Nothing”...from an old Seals and Crofts song!

Salvador Allende Redux.
Let's hope his professional career ends as abruptly. We already know it is going to be disastrous. Hopefully, the Democratic/Socialist Party will never recover.

Obam turning American into a social democracy? I wish it was that tame. The Kenyan-born marxist is in the Chavez or Mugabe mold.

Of all tyrannies a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be 'cured' against one's will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.

-- C.S. Lewis

Good analogy. And I’m afraid that the antidote may prove to be a Pinochet redux.

You may be right Frantzie...the guy seems hell-bent on ruining the economy and American society as we know it. I’ve never seen such demagoguery in my life, or so many people with their hands out.

I think the States should tell the federal government to go to hell. We should pay our federal taxes to the State and let them help the State, not the socialists in Congress. The only money I am for giving the feds is to the military to protect the republic, or the States can toss in the military budget into one account to cover defense. What fits one state might not fit another. States, regions, are different. Their economies are different. Why the hell do we employ 500 politicians, pay their pay checks, their insurance, their health care, their goodies, and all those millions of government pay checks to do the work of the socialists. The federal government of the USA is the largest monster on the block, spending more money in a day than most countries spend in a week or month. The federal government is the size of a hippo and we are the size of an ant. Being crushed by the federal government huge foot on our neck and a gun pointed at us and the threat of jail if we do not continue to feed our dollars into the mouth of the federal beast in D.C.

The passage of the huge federal bailout bill, WITHOUT ANY OF THE ELECTED OFFICIALS IN CONGRESS OR THE WHITE HOUSE READING THE ENTIRE DOCUMENT BEFORE THE PREMIER SIGNED IT, IS TAXACTION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!!!! They spent our tax money without doing their jobs. They did not read the bill that spends billions upon trillions of dollars.

None of should take this talk of “socialism” lightly. It is not just fearmongering among us conservatives. Turning on AirAmerica yesterday afternoon, I heard the notorious Ed Schultz say we need a little socialism, and I heard the same from liberals in my office. The are no longer afraid to use the “S” word.

You know, that’s an excellent point -

we were NOT represented by our congress people because they did not read the bill before passing it.

Afraid?
Not exactly the term I would use.
I would use a word more akin to "hopeful".

My husband stopped contributions to his 401K. May as well have some more money in “take-home” at this point. We’re young enough to rebuild it when (if) the market rebounds. I’m trying to stay postive that we won’t be in this mess 20 years from now and that a swift and well planned revolution will rebuild this country into what it should be.

Excellent.

Here's another from Lewis: "Action unites. Words often divide."

I wonder how long he meditated on the "often" part.

He’d surely clean house but Pinochet is not the sort of leader I’d want for the US.

They try way too hard to be “fair and balanced.” In the case of the Usurper, “fair” does not mean balanced! It means total outright opposition to a communist agenda because there is nothing fair about what the commies have in store for us!
