Orlando Tea Party
email | February 22, 2009 | Lisa Feroli

Posted on 02/22/2009 8:42:10 AM PST by Roos_Girl

We have secured the Ampitheater at Lake Eola for Saturday, March 21 from 12:00 - 2:00. Bud Hedinger is on board. We have been contacted by Lloyd Marcus who is a conservative, patriotic singer, song writer and entertainer. He is on board as well and will be performing. There are many other plans in the works. So clear your calendars and spread the word. We are going to have a Tea Party! We are going to need to ask for some help with funding the event. We will be forwarding to you our website link which will be completed this afternoon. The website will have all needed information, updates and Paypal account for contributions for the event. Thank you for your patience and support!

There's been some discussion about combining the Tea Party and the Freeper Convention. Let me throw some things out for everyone to think about and/or comment on.

First, I *might* not be able to go to the Tea Party because I *might* be out of town; I won't know until the last minute. If the convention is planned for the same day it would also mean I *might* not be able to attend the convention. Understand that I am not involved in any way with the planning of the Tea Party, I have simply been passing on the information I've gotten from the planner. We feel it's important that the lead person planning the convention actually be at the convention. If everyone feels strongly that the two events be the same weekend I won't be slighted in the least to step aside and let someone else take over the planning of the convention. Whoever wants to do it just let me know and I'll forward you all the information I've gathered so far.

Second, the convention is not a sit in the seat and listen to other people talk event. Yes, we *might* have a guest speaker or two, but my interpretation of the point of the convetion is for us to gather, get to know one another and then get to work on coming up with some goals and some real action items that we can work on together to get us toward those goals. Listening to other people talk and having no input isn't going to help us do that, and I don't think a couple of hours of griping to each other over drinks is going to get us there either. Again, if my idea of what this convention is going to be isn't what the rest of the group wants it to be I won't be slighted in any way if someone else wants to take over the planning.

Yes, I think a Freep during the convention would not only be fun, but would be a great learning experience for people that haven't gone to one before. But I just don't see it fitting in, time-wise, with what I think is shaping up to be an all day schedule of meeting, talking, goal setting and action planning that is my idea of what the convention should be. And while I understand that probably everyone can't make it to two events and probably there will be some that won't be happy with how things turn out, I don't want to continue down a path that the majority aren't going to be happy with and will be unproductive.

Hope none of that came across as snippy (I'm positive the decline in the number of duels is directly related to the invent of the telephone and decrease in written correspondence), not looking for an atta girl and if it's me that continues with the planning will welcome input on what y'all think should be included. But, please understand that most likely if an idea is given and then not incorporated into what is planned there's probably a reason for it. And I am going to waste the bandwidth and put it out there for everyone so it's not an issue again for anyone moving forward from this point.

Thank you Roos_Girl for all you are doing to set up our Florida FR Convention! I would like to see our FR convention be separate from the Tea Party protest. I am sure many Freepers will be able to attend the Tea Party event as well.

***I'll collect Bob***

Right now it appears iffy for my participation in the 'tea party' in March... I am undergoing a series of somewhat minor surgical procedures [one right after the 'tea party'] which requires preparation for each one, and my son will be out of the country up until the day of the tea party.

If anything changes I will post to y'all. :-/

First, let me thank Roos for her hard work behind the scenes and on our thread in planning and getting our Freeper convention organized and off the ground. It's no easy task, as most of you realize. She's doing a fabulous job.

Second, it's not a good idea to combine our convention with another event going on simultaneously. Why have the convention at all if it's going to be truncated during the day with our attendees leaving Roos' planned agenda events for a rally miles away?

We have to have priorities. AT LAST we have a regional freeper event where we can greet, meet and discuss issues and actions among ourselves. While the Tea Party is of great importance, the solution that is best for everything and everybody is to have our convention on a different date than the rally.

We can publicize the rally on FR and those who wish to go "tea-bagging" on whatever day it's being held can do so and help make an impact crowd-wise. A number of our Orlando freepers are helping out with the Tea Party rally, also.

Likewise, the Freeper convention should be OUR day with the time devoted to OUR concerns, issues, input, debates, solutions, networking and socializing. I know this is why I'm attending.

I'm not interested in attending a lakeside-park rally, walking and standing forever, perhaps in inclement weather ON THE SAME DAY AS OUR CONVENTION.

We can do the most justice to both events if they are on separate days and don't inadvertantly become morphed into one.

Travel distance and financial concerns enter into the equation as far as attending both events in different time periods, to be sure. But sometimes, choices have to be made 'cause life isn't always fair.

Everyone concerned with planning successful conservatives events anywhere across the fruited plain work hard and they do the very best they can despite date conflicts and other glitches that come up.

FWIW..the Tea Party and the Freeper Convention should be separate events, and NOT held the same weekend.

The Tea Party is a groundswell of public opposition to the insane policies of the Zero administration. More importantly, most there will NOT be Freepers, though we should use the opportunity to gently invite people to logon and chieck us out. The Freeper convention will be serious activists discussing political strategies for the future...and as I mentioned in a Freepmail to a few people, I think we have to focus on finding a conservative replacement for Martinez..one we can get behind and support, and help elect.

Bud Hedinger is on the air between 3 and 6. He’s going to stay very much involved in working with Lisa in the “Tea Party” protest at Lake Eola, so you may keep checking back on his web site to stay abreast of the developments. bttt

You may listen to the live streaming audio of his show if you like at this link: http://www.540wfla.com/pages/bud_hedinger.html

Lloyd Marcus is a great singer, and will be there.

I traveled across country with him and the crew from Our Country Deserves Better PAC, the Stop Obama Tour.

Have a good time my nutty Florida friends!

For those unfamiliar with Orlando, here is the location of the proposed Orlando Tea Party:

It’s at the bandshell on the western shore of Lake Eola, in downtown Orlando.

We are in need of a table for set up at the TP to attach our banner and set out business cards, etc. Is that something you might be able to bring?

Yes, we just need two 4’tables or one 8’table. I will be bringing the banner from Freeper Surfer, the cards from Freeper MinuteGal, along with name tags and some table decorations. My hubby and I are coming from St. Pete, so we hope we can count on Orlando Freepers to take care of the table for the event.

We also need some Florida Freepers attending the Tea Party on the 21st to take lots of pictures....and a video would be great. Sure would be great to have pictures posted on our FR post-rally thread. We know FR readers want to see pix of Florida Freepers in action!

ALSO! Glenn Beck stated on his program that he would welcome pictures or videos of Tea Party events. If folks send them in to his program website he will show them on his TV program! Lets have some great Free Republic Freeper pictures to send to Glenn!

Please freepmail me at “SeekTheTruth” if we can count on you to be our star photographer at the Tea Party event!
