PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter was greeted with jeers at a press conference in Cranberry Township.
Conservatives are fuming after Specter cast the deciding vote that led to the passage of President Barack Obama's stimulus plan.
Specter, 79, acknowledges his run for re-election will be tough.
He says he's not completely happy with Obama's plans but he points out that he was able to cut the price tag by over $100 billion and he says he was able to increase the amount of tax cuts.
Even so, Specter acknowledges the Republican Party's conservative wing will attempt to unseat him in next year's primary race.
Six years ago, Specter barely won the Republican primary, but he says he's not afraid to fight for the job one more time.
He could have stopped it dead. The whole lot of those who voted for this should be imprisoned for grand theft. They are educated but without insight. Don’t they know this will cause inflation? It will make things worse. It already has. They are trying to pump the air back into the overinflated tire that burst without patching the hole. We are going to end up more like the United States of Argentina than the United States of America if we don’t put a stop to this and take our country back.
Why does the Gop leave him on any commitee? Sack his butt.
Move his office to Alexandria. Take away his staff allowance and ignore him.
I am not from there but it is hard to believe he will win. He barely made it last time and the state seems to be trending democrat. I hope I am wrong. I mean it would be nice if he loses in the primary and the conservative wins. The same could be said up in Maine as well.
What you say in your post applies to over half of Congress in addition to Specter (sic).
Too bad “jeering” doesn’t involve tar and feathers
Treason is a road taken by the spinless because they figure they can take both sides of the road and still come out with their lilly white asses intact. Specter needs to be booted out of office in disgrace. And even that will too good for him.
True but in Specter’s case the unease and loathing I feel is even more than the normal level I have for Members of Congress.
He needs to retire with the those two cheap dates from Maine and find a room.
Agreed. Wasn’t he on the judicary committee that held up all of bushes judge appointments? I mean at least the big ones. Even when he was in the majority he found a way to screw things up.
But I smile at the thought of people jeering him. Hope it happens EVERYWHERE he goes.
Jeez, the guy’s 79 and he’s still considering another run for office? Don’t these people ever get tired of feeding at the govt trough?
I converted to the GOP when I lived in Philly, but for the most part, while I lived there I was a Dim and I voted for Spector. Time to go, buddy!
At 79, why would he even run? I am not for putting maximum age limitations on people but one would think the Congressmen themselves would have enough sense to know when to quit.
I mean, how long is it going to be until we see Byrd hovering around the Senate like Captain Pike in his stainless steel hover-chair?
I’ll try to act surprised when Specter gets re-elected.
It is Pa after all. :(
Ping!
ROTFL!!!

Don’t know much about Gerlach. Anyone else?
Captain Pike, eh? I guess it really comes down to yes or no anyways. lol
Haven't you figured it out yet? These turds crave power. It is the end that matters not the means. Burn that into your heart and never forget it.
Specter should quit NOW. See my sig line!
