SURPRISE! Dems Break Promise: Stimulus Bill to Floor Friday
Human Events ^ | 02/12/2009 | Connie Hair

In a press conference Thursday, the House Republican leadership spoke candidly about being kept out of the House-Senate conference on the Obama-Pelosi-Reid so-called “economic stimulus” bill. They confirmed they had not yet seen the text of the bill as of 4 p.m.

<SNIP> The fact that the Demos have now broken their promise to have the public able to see the bill for 48 hours may drive more Dems into the Republican camp.

“[I] don’t know, ‘cause they haven’t seen the bill either,” Boehner said.

“The American people have a right to know what’s in this bill,” Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind) told HUMAN EVENTS after the press conference. “Every member of Congress -- Republicans and Democrats -- voted to post this bill on the internet for 48 hours, 48 hours ago. We’ll see if the Democrats keep their word.”

The Bill is all pork spending and focused on rewards for Obama's people, not rebooting the economy.

The good news is (in a way), the Economy will crash, and take Obama's approval ratings to 5%.

We need real conservatives to retake the Senate in 2010.

Obama gets one term and surpasses Jimmy Carter with awful leadership.

The quickest way out of this mess is massive failure of this Bill and the Democrats, let the Democrats have their Bill. Just make sure its all Democrat all the time.

Let Obama committ political suicide, he is already doing everything wrong so far.

Obama's approvals are down every day, like the market.

I hate to say it, but all of this is good news for conservatives. It will clean out the system and take down the Democrats in two years, quaranteed!

Our “friends” at Democratic Underground think this is quite funny. I’ve been banned there half a dozen times. The last time I made it to over 1,500 posts before they figured out that I was only there to expose their stupidity and treacherous intentions. I think it’s time to create a new DU identity. I miss fu**ing with those idiots.

Close the book on the United States of America. It’s finished.

You are right, IMO. And, do you know why? IMO, it's because we have so many illegals and foreign others who are in this country that hate America & Americans who are doing their very best, along with the US-communists, to collapse us from within. Just like when they demolish an old building - charges are set in specific spots in the building and when set off the building collapses onto itself. This is what is happening here.

This is a copy of a letter I sent to Ann Coulter. I sent a variation of this same email to other News networks and online news Editors and columnists. We need to get the word out.

Dear Ann,

I participated in a very informative conference call last tonight with Tim Phillips from “Americans for Prosperity” and Congressman Eric Cantor regarding the latest on the “Stimulus Bill.” There were over 10,000 American citizens on the phone listening in on the conference call. The Public needs to know something very important is happening today with this Stimulus Bill. It is a tragedy beyond words!!

As you are aware, a majority of the Senators and Congressmen have not received or read the revised Bill which will be voted on today. This is unacceptable to the American people. It will be a disaster if the House or Senate vote today for a revised Bill that no one has seen or read thoroughly not to mention had an opportunity to conference.

As mentioned in the media, Nancy Pelosi held a closed conference two nights ago where hundreds of pages were added (new mystery spending) and a majority of the Congress has not even been permitted to read this Bill. What was added in this SECRET MEETING? The Public deserves to know what Nancy Pelosi’s team is hiding. Are the House and Senate forced by law to vote today? The Democrats should at least be shamed by someone like you revealing publically the secret way they added pages of taxpayer spending to the bill last night, not releasing the revised bill, and then turning around today and forcing Congress to vote.

I wish you could help to alert the Public. People listen to you. This is a corrupt business practice that should never be permitted to occur in our Democratic government.

Now it looks like Nancy Pelosi can force Congress to vote on something they haven’t even read. Before we can even gasp or discuss the content of this new Bill, we have to shout to the Public what will happen today. This is intentional deception and manipulation. The American people are being deceived. Both the House and the Senate disrespect us entirely if they proceed to vote before they have had sufficient time to read and review this Bill or any Bill.

This Government feels like a Dictatorship as opposed to a Democracy. How is it that Nancy Pelosi can arbitrarily change the laws by which Congress functions? Her rules don’t seem Democratic. There should be a time to read and conference any changes made on this Bill at a minimum.

We need the Public to know what is going on. We all need to know what Pelosi’s team is doing. Thank you for listening. There are millions of Americans who want an open, honest and ethical Government and that is not what we have today. Please continue to help keep everyone honest.

Sincerely,

How can anyone vote on a bill they havent seen.

Surely you jest?

In consideration of my desire that will never be met to wit, all bills before the congress will be one page, that is ONE PAGE only. Reason: That said bills will be first read by all congressmen voting on them and number two: Said bills will be written by said congressmen.

No congressional staff will have any input on any bill before congress, and will not assist in any way in the writing thereof. Research may be done by staffers, but they will be criminally liable for distortions, deceptions, double speak, or anything else like it that distorts the purpose of any bill before the congress.

No bill before the congress will contain anything unrelated to said bill. NO add ons, no attachments, no funding requests, no slippery stuff of any kind unrelated to the original reason for the bill.

There is so much more related to the impossibility at present for congressmen actually reading a bill before being asked to vote on said bill. I’m betting that the majority of bills before the congress are treated like the high school book report. You know the book you were suppose to have read, and then reported on, but you cheated by reading a review.

This monstrosity has grown to over 1500 pages. No one will be able to read it or comprehend it in 48 hours.

The people voting on this bill really don't know what is in there. They are compartmentalized. Anything could be in there.

How serious is this? More serious than that which King George and Mr. Pitt had wrought upon us. If this bill, this disaster gets pushed through and our children’s children are indentured into the next century without this bill having been read...I can only see the GALLOWS for Pelosi, Reid and Obama.

This is Tyranny!!

without this bill having been read...I can only see the GALLOWS for Pelosi, Reid and Obama.

...and I would say that would be a good start, Failure to adhere to their oath of office is showing through the smoke and mirrors.

Yes one of the tactics was to not wave the reading of the bill. The Reps. had the bill (amnesty?)read on the floor and it took hours!

Some republican should object to dispensing with the reading and make them read the whole d@mn thing into the record on C-SPAN.

Then we'll find out what's in there...

Well, most of the people who are opposed work for a durn living. As much as I would love to jump in a car with some other FRiends and drive to DC to protest, I cannot. I can call, fax and email. but that seems ineffective.

I'm thinking tax revolt. Everyone who pays quarterlies stop sending them. Plan on paying penalty april 15, 2010. My guess is they would pass legislation immediately making the penalty severe.
While that has some appeal, the possibility of the penalties and being "made an example" are a bit beyond what some people might want.

I've been thinking that perhaps general strikes are a better way. Call it "Tax Free Friday." Workers take a day of unpaid "medical" leave (due to the fact they are sick of paying taxes). Small businesses close one day a week. Income and payroll tax collections go down by 20% within a month. Economic activity is reduced by that much as well.

We're already in a recession that's getting deeper. The economic harm will come whether we do it now to make the statement, or just sit back and wait.
