GREGG WITHDRAWS NOMINATION FOR COMMERCE SEC

For Immediate Release:
Thursday, February 12, 2009

Senator Gregg Statement on His Withdrawal for Consideration of U.S. Commerce Secretary

Sen. Gregg stated, “I want to thank the President for nominating me to serve in his Cabinet as Secretary of Commerce. This was a great honor, and I had felt that I could bring some views and ideas that would assist him in governing during this difficult time. I especially admire his willingness to reach across the aisle.

“However, it has become apparent during this process that this will not work for me as I have found that on issues such as the stimulus package and the Census there are irresolvable conflicts for me. Prior to accepting this post, we had discussed these and other potential differences, but unfortunately we did not adequately focus on these concerns. We are functioning from a different set of views on many critical items of policy.

“Obviously the President requires a team that is fully supportive of all his initiatives.

“I greatly admire President Obama and know our country will benefit from his leadership, but at this time I must withdraw my name from consideration for this position.

“As we move forward, I expect there will be many issues and initiatives where I can and will work to assure the success of the President´s proposals. This will certainly be a goal of mine.

“Kathy and I also want to specifically thank Governor Lynch and Bonnie Newman for their friendship and assistance during this period. In addition we wish to thank all the people, especially in New Hampshire, who have been so kind and generous in their supportive comments.

“As a further matter of clarification, nothing about the vetting process played any role in this decision. I will continue to represent the people of New Hampshire in the United States Senate.”

This was the end of the Associated Press article regarding his resignation. This is the best Gregg could hope for:

A day after Gregg’s nomination had been announced, the AP reported that a former staffer, Kevin Koonce, was under criminal investigation for allegedly taking baseball and hockey tickets from a lobbyist in exchange for legislative favors while working for Gregg.

The senator said at the time that he had been told he was neither a subject nor target of the investigation, and would cooperate fully.

AP has added this:

“My fiendish thought..” ... I had a similar cynical thought. Don’t think, tho, that Gregg is quite as diabolical as we.

I do wish he hadn’t done quite so much ‘there to support O’ but it’s the game of politics to speak of ‘my distinguished colleague ...’ who you really think is a first class sob. Civility and all that.

Dirty pictures on Gregg's hard drive will be next. Then, he'll declare he is retiring. Then... big $$$ lobbying in D.C. and a spot on Fox. Same old sh*t.

Well, he'll get over THAT fiction soon enough.

Now the Republicans just need to withdraw any token support for Porculus, and Obama’s agenda is burned.

In his statement, Gregg said his withdrawal had nothing to do with the vetting into his past that Cabinet officials routinely undergo. He told the AP he foresaw conflicts over health care, global warming and taxes.

He also cited both the stimulus and the census as areas of disagreement with the administration.

Everything we are hearing that the left is trying to obfuscate is true and Gregg found it out the hard way. One of our friends is ex secret service and before Obama was elected he said he talks to secret service all the time. They said Hillary was the meanest person they had ever been around. But they said listening to Obama's people, you would not believe what they have in store for everyone. I thought it was strange they would say anything but now I realize is way too little.

Obama does have a evil health care program. Obama does plan on redistricting for political votes. Obama does plan on using global warming to raise taxes and control the masses. The cost of their plans is 11 trillion. Geithner's 2 trillion bailout, 8 trillion projected stimulus cost, Boxers 1 trillion transportation stimulus and on and on.

Then people will be easy to rule. They will be desparate.

California taxpayers are going to get a doulbe marxist whammy and hit with 16 billion in new taxes on top of Obama's marxist tax plans. Double car tags, 12 cents a gallon tax on gasoline, and on and on.

Do not buy a new car if you live in California is all I can say.

Read comments by Gregg's constituents on recusing to vote on the stimulus.

Gregg helped craft the failed TARP bail out. He knew the people of New Hampshire were opposed to TARP and he damn well knows they are opposed to this pay back pork package. He has'nt got the courage to stand with his esteemmed colleagues in opposition because he only cares now that he is nominated. Just shows what a man is made of when given the choice between personal gain or doing the right thing for the people who made him.

I think it does make BO look bad. I’m going to have to admit that I think Gregg destroyed himself here though. The person who was going to replace him was a consumate RINO from what I hear. She would have been another Snowe, Collins, and Spectre. So I haven’t got any respect for Gregg here.

In 2010, this seat would have been lost to the Democrats, almost no question about it. So he was plenty happy to give the Dems a super majority in the Senate.

That didn’t sit well with me at all.

Will the world stop spinning due to the snubbing of the Messiah by Gregg? The way the media is portraying it, I’m starting to worry.
