GOP Senators Risk Political Backlash Over Support of Stimulus Bill
fox news ^ | 2/7/2009 | fox news

Until Friday, President Obama's plea for bipartisanship support of his costly plan for stimulating the economy mostly had fallen on deaf GOP ears, but that changed when three Republican moderates pledged their support.

In doing so, Sens. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine, and Pennsylvania's Sen. Arlen Specter risked drawing the wrath of their fellow Republicans and of some constituents

The trio's support is expected to give Democrats the 60 votes needed in the Senate to advance to a final vote on the $827 billion stimulus bill next week -- and ultimately push the controversial mix of massive spending and tax cuts over the finish line.

Collins said she broke ranks with her party because of the progress congressional negotiators had made on the bill.

"Well, I know that some of my Republican colleagues are unhappy with the position that I've taken," Collins told FOX News on Saturday. "I hope they will look at the fact that we were able to cut $110 billion of unnecessary spending from this bill. I think that's a good accomplishment. I also think that it's important that we do pass a stimulus bill to help turn the economy around."

Maybe Collins, Snowe and Specter need to know they might not get re-elected.

It started at about $800 billion and it's ending at $800 billion after the “cuts”.

Do what I did. Email them and tell them that if they can’t stand shoulder to shoulder with Traditionally Conservative Republicans, they may as well change political parties. I even accused Collins of being a RINO.

If the shoe fits, throw it.

Hey, Dems need their place in history!!

Stimulus Money for a Mob Museum. Got a Problem?

Published: January 9, 2009

LAS VEGAS — After taking a hail of bipartisan bullets in recent days over the suggestion that a federal stimulus package should help pay for a proposed $50 million museum here on the history of organized crime, the project’s godfathers are returning fire, complaining that Washington pols are scapegoating the museum and the city.

Awwwww!! So sad, you meanies won't let dems have their museum.

“But if the bill that comes back to the Senate from the conference committee is once again bloated with wasteful spending and it’s too expensive, then I’ll vote against it.”

Does she really think that pig is slim and trim and without waste in it now? You’ve got to be kidding me. She can’t possibly believe that.

Good for you, HighlyOpinionated. I’m going to do the same and I hope other Freepers do too! They need to be called what they are: Traitors of the principles and ideals of Conservatives and Republicans alike.

I have a theory of why Arlen Spector may have sold his vote on the stimulus bill!

Since Arlen is up for reelection in 2010, did Barack Obama possibly make a deal with Spector to only put up a token opponent against Spector in his campaign?

Obama already may have his veto proof senate with Arlen in his hip pocket!

What do you think of this theory?

Yep. Instead of pouring a full bucket of sh#t over the taxpayers' heads, they're only going to use a 7/8 full bucket.

The wrath of SOME constituents? I’ve been trying to call Snarlin Arlen for 2 days now; yesterday I couldn’t get through (busy signal ALL DAY), and today, his “voice mailbox is full”. I would say he was deluged with phone calls; I call that wrath from a lot more than “some.

He could care less what the peasants want.

Specter wanted $6.5 billion to go to the national institute of health. He got it, that is why he is supporting the sitmuless bill.

The pro abortionists stuck together to pass the RECORD SPENDING PORK legislation.

Susan Collins follows closely in the footsteps of her formaer boss, WILLIAM COHEN, who got in bed with Billy Clintoooon as his Secretary of Defense!

Collins is one of the leading New England pimps of the Election Industry!

...drawing the wrath of their fellow Republicans and of some constituents...

Some?? Where the hell are the interviews with pissed off Republicans in these people's states??? I want faces. I want names. I want citizens in every state to be on TV saying how disgusted they are with this idiotic bill.

You can
DAMN WELL BETCHA
that if this were a George W. Bush idea, the LameStream Media would be finding "Joe Six Packs" who find this whole bailout notion STUPID.

But now that Hussein and the 'rats are cramming this down our grandchildrens' throats, not a single report on what the American people believe about the issue!!!

If the GOP had any cashews they would publicly announce that these have been expelled from the party and prepare to fund and run a challenger to them the next time they are up for vote.

When the stakes are high with the Neo-Com’s moving on DC, there can be no margin for this gadfly/cross-dressing crap.

If you don’t votr like a conservative then you won’t hold a Republicn office.

Remember that to make this work, we don’t have to actually un-vote all three.

All we need is to fire JUST ONE, that will make those RINO’s in the future think that they could be next.
