Michael Steele, the new chairman of the Republican National Committee wants the GOP to reach out to candidates who support gay marriage and are pro-choice. Steele told Fox's Chris Wallace that it was "important" to reach out to those voters.
WALLACE: You are one of the co-founders of something called the Republican Leadership Council which supports candidates who favor abortion and gay rights.
STEELE: Yes.
(watch video)
WALLACE: Does the GOP needs to do a better job of reaching out to people who hold those views?
STEELE: I think -- I think that's an important opportunity for us, absolutely. Within our party we do have those who have that view as well as outside and my partnership with Christy Todd Whittman was an effort to build a bridge between moderates and conservatives.

The GOP can now forget about my vote.
Nothing wrong with reaching out and trying to find common ground on other issues.
Steele: GOP Should Reach Out To Gay, Pro-Choice Voters
and slap them.
I agree.
If you live in Maryland, you know that Steele is no conservative. He is in fact a moderate with leftward leanings.
The information is out there.
If you are surprised that the RNC hired a RINO, then you have not been paying attention.
Unless he is talking about hating the sin and loving the sinner.
BREAKING! Pro-life, devout Catholic named new RNC chair!
Opinion: Michael Steele, Black, Pro-Life Catholic Takes the Helm of the G.O.P.
Catholic Michael Steele (former seminarian) takes over leadership of RNC
Rut ruo....
Flame on.
Uh oh. Four more years of Obama.
there are VERY FEW pro-choice voters
stupid, stupid.
They have learned no lessons.
I actually supported him for RNC Chair. Warning flags came up when he didn’t offer a staunch defense of Rush Limbaugh. Now this. Crapola.
He’s stepping in the sewer now. Thanks for the article... I did not know he was crossing the line.
LLS
he said — **I think that’s an important opportunity for us**
He didn’t say he would do it.
Aren’t you jumping to conclusions?
As long as it’s done with the understanding that they don’t drive the party direction I’m fine with it. The GOP should stand for what it stands for and if pro choice and pro gay want to vote for conservative principles, so be it.
The GOP has too many RINOs already.
The GOP does not want or need gay or pro-choice voters.
The GOP needs to get back to basic conservatism and give RINOs the boot.
however, I do enjoy reading all the posts from the ‘tolerant’ folks.
agreed....
he more they push wouldbe voters away the more votes will end up in the hands of the rats....reaching out to these voters versus adopting their agenda; whether it be for political or genuine purposes, are night and day....
there are plenty of log cabin Republicans who, in many ways, are more conservative and more ardent to conservative policies than the dopes who’ve had an “-R” next to their name the past six years....
Well, he has never appeared very conservtaive anytime he has been the talking head on TV.
GOP is a dead party. They haven’t learned a damn thing.
