Obama: Reelection rests on stimulus By: Andy Barr February 2, 2009 10:35 AM EST

President Barack Obama acknowledged Monday that the fate of his reelection four years from now likely rests on the success of the proposed $825 billion stimulus package.

“A year from now, I think people are going to see that we’re starting to make some progress. But there’s still going to be some pain out there,” Obama predicted during an interview on NBC’s “Today Show.”

“If I don’t have this done in three years, then there’s going to be a one-term proposition.”

In acknowledging that his political fortune hinges on the state of the economy, Obama urged the country to be patient in waiting for the stimulus to take effect.

“I do have confidence that we’re going to be able to get it right. But it’s not going to be overnight,” he said. “There are no silver bullets to this. The fact of the matter is that we are suffering from a massive hangover from a binge of risk-taking.”

If he really believed that he’d have Nancy and Harry in the Oval, reading them the riot act about taking crap out of the bill currently floating around Congress. There’s almost no stimulus in it.

Who was it who said that BHO had never HELD office, that he’d just RUN for office?

He’s thinking 4 years ahead while we’re drowning in taxpayer h3ll.

No sir, it will not be better a year from now. It will not be better in 2 years when Republicans replace Democrats and RINOs in Congress and it won’t be better in 4 years when Republicans retake The Presidency. But it WILL be better in 5 years after Republicans get us back on track.

One and OUT, if he’s lucky enough not to be thrown OUT before the end of his term!

What a doofus.....he hasn’t even been in office for a month, has screwed up more than Bush did in 8 years, and is already worried about getting re-elected.

If you continue down the same path you started on....NOBODY will want your socialist, high-spending, high-taxing, terrorist lovin’ ass anywhere NEAR government.

Politics aside (I know, tough to do here!), 0bama’s stimulus package doesn’t address the core global economic problems such as:

1. Global Manufacturing Overcapacity
2. Office Space, home/condo, and retail oversupply (e.g. too many shopping malls)
3. International trade and currency imbalances ala China’s Yuan
4. Complete Liquidity Drought
5. Massive credit and wealth destruction

His stimulus plan instead pumps money into Medicare/Medicaid...but that won’t stimulate the economy. People are going to be sick (or not), regardless of new money going in to Medicare.

The core problems are left untouched...hardly a recipe for a cure.

The guy has made a ton of errors in his first week in office. Over 100,000 more jobs lost. The trial lawyers are set to do damage with Whiny Bedwetter legislation. His cabinet selections are a bunch of losers with tax, nanny and other potential criminal problems. Re-election is unthinkable. Another week of this dork is nearly unthinkable.

I hope he enjoyed his fancy Super Bowl party while the good folks of Kentucky were trying to stay warm with no electricity. He hasn't lifted a finger to assist them.

“A year from now, I think people are going to see that we’re starting to make some progress”

disingenuous.

A year from now, there WILL be more money sloshing about, and people will THINK things are good.

But those bills are going to have to be PAID some day

This guy is unfit, someone should start the process to get him out, while we still have a portion of our country.

Anyone who really puts country ahead of personal ambition wouldn’t even be thinking about reelection a fortnight after taking office. I’m pretty sure that, in 1789, George Washington wasn’t all that concerned about the election of 1792. Ditto for Ronald Reagan shortly after he took office in 1981. To him, 1984 was just the title of a book, not an upcoming election year.

Of course it does - those billions for ACORN to get a whole bunch of phantom voters voting for Zero have to come from SOMEWHERE.

I have to think that if 0 believed that, he would be adamant about getting a package that would actually stimulate the economy, as opposed to a pork bill that pays constituents for their service. Of course, that might be what 0 means. The pork will work to subvert Democracy, and buy the loyalty of the ignorant masses.

Obama is cleverly leaving one major factor out of the equation:

That’s what the $5 Billion for ACORN is for.

With ACORN, you can be UNPOPULAR, because you are a FAILURE...and STILL BE RE-ELECTED!

BHO has only run for positions, then moved on to running for the next position. He never does anything substantive once he successfully captures a position. He's already talking about running again...and screwing up his current responsibilities.

Another defect in BHO's experience is that his "work" has always been funded by some kind of "charitable" or other form of largess. He doesn't comprehend how to make money by creating a product, selling it for a profit and growing his business on the merits of the products. It's always another hand out of money that is burned producing nothing.

“If I don’t have this done in three years, then there’s going to be a one-term proposition.”

That comment shows his insecurity and lack of experience. The RNC should use that comment for a future ad.

Would Reagan be fretting and hand-wringing about his reelection at this point in his presidency?
