Apparently, President Barack Obama thought that Jessica Simpson's weight was something he needed to make fun of during his pre-Super Bowl interview with Matt Lauer on NBC Sunday. Seriously. Obama called Jessica Simpson a fatty on national TV.
Lauer displayed for the audience the cover of a recent issue of the tabloid entertainment magazine US Weekly that featured the President's wife and daughters and also had an insert photo pushing a story about singer Simpson.
As he viewed the cover, Obama decided to smack the singer down for "losing a weight battle."

That said, snopes states her dress size as a vintage 12, which, as you stated, would equal a 4-6 in today’s dress sizes.
My actual point was Marilyn’s healthy look, her beautiful curves. Had Monroe been at her peak today, no fashion guru would have given her a 2nd look, choosing some stick-thin girl/boy instead.

A real person or even a president with even slightest amout of decorum when presented with a statement like that would have ignored it. Or said something along the lines of “Well it was nice of the magazine to include us in it.” or if he just had to comment on Jessica something like “She is a great entertainer and done a lot of good.” Not emphasize the silliness of Jessica’s weight gain. I mean Jessica’s weight is non issue and it just shows how intellectually vapid and vacant pop culture really is.
Or call a reporterette “sweetie.”

Correct. I haven't heard the audio but President Scatterbrain probably said this in a matter-of-factly tone rather than a facetious or even malicious one.
An ongoing problem here at FR is that too many react to a headline without bothering to actually cull the facts behind it. It's lazy of them to do so and only casts a bad light on Free Republic and its more levelheaded members.
Hey, she doesn’t look as good. Sorry “pleasingly plump” ladies, but it’s the truth, and she was never waif-thin. It has changed her face, and not for the better. Actually her body looks fine, but her features look far different.

The left made a big mistake when they made such a big deal out of Obama being Black. If he turns out to be a very poor president, it could reflect on Blacks.

His tendency to use street language is unfortunate. His desire is to be cool with his street peeps. I say it over and over, but this guy is a ten year old. He is trying to be cool to children. Adults who have stature don’t talk that way.

Good question. These groups get set up so provide support, and then sink back into the woodwork, when they are no longer expedient. They’ll be back in 2010 and 12 if they are deemed useful.
