Obama, allies move stimulus fight into high gear WASHINGTON (AFP) After a failed "charm offensive," US President Barack Obama and his allies unleashed a hard-hitting campaign Thursday to break defiant Republicans' thus-far united opposition to his economic stimulus plan.
The strategy called for millions of labor union members to telephone Republicans from hard-hit states, coupled with an aggressive television advertising campaign targeting potentially vulnerable Republican senators.
The ad featured Obama's warnings about the economic crisis he inherited from George W. Bush and invited viewers in Maine, New Hampshire, Alaska, and Iowa to tell their senators "support the Obama plan for jobs not the failed policies of the past," according to the script.

Exactly.
They KNOW it won’t do that. They KNOW IT.
I LOVE that!!
Of course....but reality can’t be seen by the blind. Truth can’t be heard by those who are deaf. Our fellow Americans are like pigs with rings in their noses...being led wherever the pig in the WH leads them. And, as you know - you can put lipstick on a pig....
there is only one way to explain this:
nobama and his lackeys in the house and senate KNOW this thing a going to fail-and they want to sell the American public on the nonsense that it is “bipartisan”. If there was any chance it was gong to be successful they would be celebrating the fact that not one R voted for it in the house. It will pass in the Senate-after they tack on their additional 50 billion of pork. Any intelligent R would not vote for this thing. It’s time to make a stand.
Support is down to 42%!
They want a one-party system. As I’ve often said about liberals and leftists, in their heart, they’re petty dictators. Conservatives are willing to leave people alone. The Left can never do that. They’re always right, and you have to do things their way.
Nice grammar, Cedric.
I think you are correct! They are not getting what they thought. I figured he would move fast but this is faster then I imagined. To sign an EO closing Gitmo without checking with Intelligence or the Military speaks of an arrogance we have not seen before out of the Soros Puppet. Mr. “I WON” is not going over so well now that he is in office. To threaten Senators who don’t vote for this bill should make them vote NO.
Most Dems are not this far left. Our House Member Dan Boren in NE now has a target on his back. Talked to a Dem from that area today that is furious he voted for the Stimulus against his constituents.
Called Senators Inhofe and Coburn and they are both solid NO’s. Girl laughed in Inhofe’s office when I told her why I was calling. We all know that threatening Inhofe would be like a bull seeing a red flag!
The talking heads on our side need to switch gears.
The slip, obviously, is due to the pork that’s been exposed.
The new line of attack needs to be “they’ve hidden this and that in the bill, what ELSE is hidden away that they aren’t telling us about?”
Woodrow Wilson, arguably the worst president in history, admitted his error in agreeing to sign the Federal Reserve system into law:
I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is now controlled by its system of credit. We are no longer a government by free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men.
- Woodrow Wilson, 1919
You know what just occured to me?
All those articles since the election about ‘The Republican Party is dead’.
Guess not, huh?
Federal Reserve is runing the show
You are right! Guess we are not dead afterall. Think ZERO is going to rejuvenate members of the GOP Grassroots who are fed up. We need to hold our elected representatives feet to the floor and make sure they know we stand behind them when they do the right thing.
Obama is going to find out a lot of Dems that want to get reelected may not be voting for his/Pelosi bills in the future.
“If the Bill passed, why is Zero so concerned about getting Republican buy-in? Spread the blame? Spread the guilt? What is he after?”
You got it. If he gets bipartisan support in the Senate, it’s joint ownership of crap sandwich.
That’s why Fancy Nancy got her panties in a bunch yesterday; it’s looking like the Dems will totally own this failure.
Their political bailout disappears...
Once passed, at least this ‘stimulus plan’ will give us the definitive critique of J.M. Keynes.
I am quite certain McCain will vote against this bill.
I emailed him and Kyl both. Asked Kyl what a wagyu steak tastes like and reminded him that the midterms are coming....
I have lost all sense of civility with these people. The gloves are off as far as I’m concerned. They either get it or we get it together and vote them OUT.
I'd love to see someone ask him that at his next press conference.
question, what if this doesn’t work for them, what’s next on the agenda, shoot us?
