Today is the last full day that George W Bush spent in the White House as President he telephoned current and former world leaders from Oval Office.
Also in his last full day as President he commuted the sentences of two former US border guards facing more than 10 years in prison for shooting a Mexican drug smuggler.
Secretary of Defense Roberts Gates will will sit out Barack Obama's inauguration at an undisclosed location as the "designated successor" in the event of a catastrophe, the White House announced Monday.
Pray for President Bush - Day 3050.
Enjoy Sanity Island on the President's last full day in office
Prayers for President and Mrs. Bush....we will miss them....and Prayers for America. I may not have always agreed with President Bush, but I sure do appreciate him. Being President and doing unpopular things (as a moral man like President Bush is would) had to be especially hard.
‘..That bill about repealing the 22nd amendment threw me for a loop!...’
exactly. they scare me cause they just quietly slip “stuff” past us when the media focus is on other issues. And, many Americans are still sleepwalking....
Oh well, life goes on.
Goodnight all and may God bless!
good night, apples.
bless you.
You all need to wear name tags or special hats or something so we can tell who you are.
Hey, there! Thanks for joining me today. It was lovely to meet you. Now I can “see” you when we speak here! :D
Thanks, also, for that information. I did Google Earth and Google
Street View downtown Midland and located that parking garage for Bank of America.
I guess if I can’t get in there, I’ll drive to Midland High.
If I can find IT! (hubby has a city map, it turns out! LOL)
‘...I never gave up on GWB....’
me neither, defconw. I didn’t always agree with his positions but, I trusted him cause I know he loves America...just like me. I support and defend him today just as I did 8 years ago.......and I will always support and defend him.
Lucky you getting to go to Midland and welcome the Bushes home. I’m sure he won’t get the coverage Clinton did in 2001, but maybe you can fill in some of the blanks with pictures??
Have a safe trip.
Hi Snugs and everyone,
I want to add my very sincere thanks to all the hosts over the years. Tho’ I haven’t often joined the conversations I have treasured the opportunity to catch up with the daily news and photos of President Bush and his family. I have a huge collection of great photos!! :) :)
One of my favourites (not a spelling mistake there we do spell it with a ‘u’) was taken on a tarmac early in the Presidency. The President and First Lady are walking to AF1 and talking and smiling at each other, both holding dog leads. I don’t know how to post photos, but it is a beauty!!
Thanks to all for this wonderful dose.
thank you from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful work you have done all these years in presenting us the images of our dear President, his cabinet and family, images we would never have seen if we had to rely on the regular media.
Today, as I was painting walls, my mind was on this last day of a President who has had to endure such hatred and venom as I have never witnessed in my life.
President Bush has shown me grace under fire, a man who understands the strength that comes from relying on a Greater Power, and even when I have disagreed with some of his policies, I have never doubted his principles and his love for this great Country.
Our hearts are heavy but our respect and prayers will accompany President and Mrs Bush as they continue their journey. Blessings to all, etabeta
I’ve got tears in my eyes and a huge lump in my throat. I’m going to miss our President Bush and his lovely Laura. May God continue to bless these two wonderful Americans. May God continue to bless the United States of America and give our new president good judgement and common sense. Our country will continue to be in God’s hands, I know this without a doubt.
Goodnight and God Bless. While we can still say it.
Me too. I was called a Bushbot (amongst other things), but I took pride in it.
Thanks you, Snugs, for the ping.
Do you have any information on what Vice-President Cheney and Mrs. Cheney did today? Will they fly back to Wyoming tomorrow on AF-2?
Thank you snugs, That was one of many great moments in our W’s presidency I’ll never forget. Still gives me goosebumps.
So many of my saved pix on my profile are dreaded red x’s now. Sigh......
Good, because just hearing the ONES or his b!tches name makes me sick!
Prayers for your Dad and for you, hoosier. I , happily, care for my 86 yo Mom who has cancer. It’s very hard to see those we love go through such difficulties. Prayers and Faith get me through..
I agree, I have been constantly astonished at how President Bush has been so gracious to people who have attacked him (witness to the press last week). It is indeed a great witness to the power of forgiveness and grace that comes out of a real relationship with God.
I will miss both President Bush and Laura so much and I hope some sort of dose will keep track of them, because I will never get any news of them out here!!
Laura is wonderful!!!
It is already the 20th here and I am in mourning.
***...I wonder what thoughts are going on in his head as everything
he does today is a last...***
For one thing, I think he’ll be thanking God that he was able to keep his principles intact despite the MSM, etc.
