Today is the last full day that George W Bush spent in the White House as President he telephoned current and former world leaders from Oval Office.
Also in his last full day as President he commuted the sentences of two former US border guards facing more than 10 years in prison for shooting a Mexican drug smuggler.
Secretary of Defense Roberts Gates will will sit out Barack Obama's inauguration at an undisclosed location as the "designated successor" in the event of a catastrophe, the White House announced Monday.
Pray for President Bush - Day 3050.
Enjoy Sanity Island on the President's last full day in office

‘O’ is signing a bill on Wednesday, paving the way for US taxpayers to foot the bill for foreign abortions.

Thank you dearest. And yes, it does mean more. I've been very close to many situations over the last 10 years that have really changed my perspective - sharpened it, almost. My step-father had brain surgery about 8 years ago and it really was scary as a 1st time experience. Then watching my step-mom go through brain surgery and cancer was another mind-numbing experience.
I guess that's why I check the dose as much for updates on your Dad as I do news about Bush and hearing from FRiends.

Hear! Hear! Well said. I am actually scared of our new President's agenda.
I'm not questioning your respect. I guess I felt a need to offer just a small reminder of it. There is something very special about what we do with our flag. And if we use it for too many "other things" I guess I feel it lowers our respect. I believe our flag should be flown with pride. I don't feel grief falls into that catagory. Usually a flag flown at half mast is to show respect - the respect we show toward a person who has died after faithful service.

We are going to continue with a monthly thread for GWB for news and photos after he leaves office maybe also some news of other members of his administration.
