House Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to re-write House rules today to ensure that the Republican minority is unable to have any influence on legislation. Pelosis proposals are so draconian, and will so polarize the Capitol, that any thought President-elect Obama has of bipartisan cooperation will be rendered impossible before he even takes office.
Pelosis rule changes -- which may be voted on today -- will reverse the fairness rules that were written around Newt Gingrichs Contract with America.
In reaction, the House Republican leadership is sending a letter today to Pelosi to object to changes to House Rules this week that would bar Republicans from offering alternative bills, amendments to Democrat bills or even the guarantee of open debate accessible by motions to recommit for any piece of legislation during the entire 111th Congress. These procedural abuses, as outlined in the below letter obtained by HUMAN EVENTS, would also include the repeal of six-year limit for committee chairmen and other House Rules reform measures enacted in 1995 as part of the Contract with America.

Yeah, we’ll be able to blame them here, and on Rush, Glenn and Sean.
The rest of the world will be watching the MSM which will convince them it’s all the Republicans’ fault.
We need real leadership NOW! Run for office, people!
Better to laugh than to cry, which is what we'd be doing if we didn't attempt to add humor to it all.
There’s a chill wind blowing
I almost felt that Boehner and Cantor were all bowled over to the other side today — at least from their remarks out at the camera and even the way they discussed their meetings on Special Report later. I hope my perception was wrong, but all their tough talk seems to have evaporated.
It has to be ratified by 2/3 of the states though.
Which won't matter when saying it becomes a crime.
Luckily, it still takes 2/3 of the states to ratify changes to the Constitution. And it takes them a long time. They could never get the equal rights amendment passed.
Maybe those old guys really did know what they were doing when they spent all that time drafting the original. I am continually amazed at the timelessness and brilliance of the Constitution.
GOP leadership in 2005 decided they needed a "Congress they could work with" on immigration. After 2006 was when Bush's approvals really started to dive. His base got disgusted. But nobody will admit that it had to do with amnesty.
The Pelosi dictatorship is underway.
Major Ping for later saving.
I almost tried to go to that web site...
One caucuses with the opposition when the opposition's carrot is larger or stick is scarrier. The GOP is never willing to play hardball like that.
And won't understand the impact...

The good news is the citizenship does wake up four years after the start of a major fiscal implosion and conducts voter revolutions. Until then, let’s all enjoy our bike paths.

to ensure that the Republican minority is un NEVER AGAIN able to have any influence on legislation.
Fixed it to reflect true intent.
What what Johnny Mac has to say about this?

Yes, the U.S. government could be considered Fascist by the classic definition of the term. Or Feudalism would also apply. Don’t kid yourself, our government is a Cerebus with the third head being the Fed.
