KHQA Clarification (Illinois TV station now says it has "no knowledge" of Obama-Blagojevich meeting)
ConnectTristates.com ^ | December 10, 2008, 4:04 p.m. CST. | KHQA-TV, Quincy, Illinois

KHQA TV wishes to offer clarification regarding a story that appeared last month on our website ConnectTristates.com. The story, which discussed the appointment of a replacement for President Elect Obama’in the U.S. Senate, became the subject of much discussion on talk radio and on blog sites Wednesday.

The story housed in our website archive was on the morning of November 5, 2008. It suggested that a meeting was scheduled later that day between President Elect Obama and Illinois Governor Blagojevich. KHQA has no knowledge that any meeting ever took place. Governor Blagojevich did appear at a news conference in Chicago on that date.

Perhaps though some consumers might find it refreshing to return to a ‘fact based newspaper.’ A paper that is a little slower, but ...more accurate, more truthful, and able to print an appropriate retraction if/when needed.

When was that ever the case? This sepia-tinged nostalgia of "accurate, truthful" news I suggest was always a fable. We now have the internet to expose the lies put out by the Drive-Bys.

So, why the three week silence. Who was trying to contact Blago during that time period... Durbin?

Set up???

If it looks and acts like a duck, it’s Duckworth. :)

*LOL*

Nicely done.

A sense of humor is going to be indispensable these next four years.

Looks like they gave special permission to publish a story that never existed.

I have never read an article in a newspaper reporting on a topic of which I have first hand information, that has not included at least one factual error. Just because a paper/dead tree can be saved in a drawer does not mean that what was printed was any more true, than “news” that is on the internet.

She’s Durbin’s lame duck, JMO.

(No link ... still looking ... has it been cleansed too?!?)

“The Governor’s office confirmed yesterday that he is considering me and I am deeply honored jus (sic) to be considered. I hope whoever is selected is someone who is willing to travel around the state and gets to know this wonderful state. I’m just honored to be considered,” Duckworth said.”

Spokeswoman: Duckworth hasn’t met about Sen. seat

Associated Press
6:16 PM CST, December 9, 2008

CHICAGO - Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs Director Tammy Duckworth hasn’t met or spoken with Gov. Rod Blagojevich about replacing President-elect Barack Obama in the U.S. Senate.

That’s according to Duckworth spokeswoman Jessica Woodward.

(snip)

Ah...but it is on the record, not wiped away or scrubbed. An error in reporting requires a retraction of the error.

What we’re seeing here is...?

A potential loss of ‘freedom of the press?’

So the Tribune appears to have been protecting Jackson Jr. from completing the quid pro quo by releasing the story rather than waiting a few days. The Tribune was also the source that pushed for the unsealing of the divorce records of Jack Ryan, the Republican who was running against Obama for the Senate and was forced to withdraw.

The pubs need to be all over this just like the demons were with Nixon and Bush from the start. They need to be calling for an independent prosecutor even though the law expired.

You’re right, I hadn’t heard about the 666 Illinois lottery pick for 11/5l, election day. I just looked it up.

Could very well be.

From Durbin’s comments we do know that for 12 of those three weeks Blago wasn’t returning Durbin’s calls.

http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/durbin-calls-for-special-senate-election-2008-12-09.html

Durbin said he and Blagojevich were not friends, and had a cordial but cold relationship with a lot of communication gaps. When Durbin was first elected to the Senate, he said Blagojevich never returned his call. Last month, when Durbin called Blagojevich to discuss filling the vacancy, he said the governor took 12 days to return the call.

“We certainly don’t enjoy a close relationship,” Durbin said. “I found him to be a difficult man to communicate with.”

Durbin said he recalled nothing unusual in his conversation with Blagojevich about filling Obama’s seat, and that the governor never raised the idea of a position in the incoming administration. Instead, Durbin said he and the governor discussed 20 names.

“I asked him to do two things. First, don’t appoint a caretaker. Send a senator who will serve and run for election. Second, do it as quickly as possible so we could have a seniority advantage,” Durbin said.

..

I’ll say it again ...Team 0 wanted Blago OUT, and IMO fired the warning shot back in October ...

10/28/08 “Goodbye gov? Sneed hears a plan is afoot to impeach Gov. Blagojevich following the presidential election next month. Word is the votes are there. Stay tuned.”

This is seriously creepy. Chilling, even.

Either Obama and the media are both going to be thoroughly discredited, or the Republic is gone. That may sound like an hysterical statement - I hope it turns out to be one. But I have grave concerns.
