President-elect Barack Obama is calling for the Illinois governor to resign.

Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs says the president-elect agrees with other prominent politicians in Illinois and elsewhere that "under the current circumstances, it is difficult for the governor to effectively do his job and serve the people of Illinois."

Chicago is like NJ. Corrpution does not matter as long as a Dem is in office.

It sucks, but it is a reality.

I was saying that in the arena of politics, it was wise.

Sheesh, not everyone who praises his moves supports him.

From what I’ve seen of Blago, he will only do that in exchange for a pardon.

Maybe Obama will send McCain to ask Bush for one.

“Obama has known Blago was corrupt and under investigation for YEARS..why is he just now asking him to resign?

This is part and parcel of a longstanding Obama pattern to race ahead of the parade and pretend he’s leading it. Wright didn’t get tossed under the bus until it was clear that public opinion would tolerate nothing less.

I’m waiting for Gov Blago to tell Obama to either pardon him or he’s going to roll over on him about the Chicago Machine...

Interesting thought there. This has got to be a threat of serious magnitude to Obama Inc. Blago may have some bargaining power, but of course he's also in some degree of danger, if he's got goods on Obama.

What a pickle. Wonder how they'll play this?

Yes, it would appear that either the President Elect or someone in his transition team would very much appreciate that. I’ve heard politicos around town say the fall out from this is going to taint a lot of folks (guilty or innocent) at least in the eyes of the public. Both sides of the river here in St. Louis are manning the battle stations (from both parties, actually).

What did Mr Obama actually say? It’s no good to paraphrase Mr Obama since his utterances are precisely formulated. A news report said he asked Blagojevich to step aside, which is not the same as to resign.

It is being said that Blagojevich calling Obama a nasty name makes him a great character witness for Obama.

Well, we all did hear Blagojevich call Obama a “MF”, so this will be interesting to see just what kind of a “character witness” he will be for Obama.

Now Obama and Axelrod call for Blagojevich to resign!!

Remember, Axelrod was Daley’s lawyer when Fitzgerald was taking on Daley’s aids. I am sure Fitzgerald knows all to well about Axelrod and Obama and will provide the rope they need to finish the job!

Won’t be long and Blagojevich will join Rezco in a nice chorus of crying and rapid talking!! And a little more pressure on Blagojevich about the 20 years for each count, might just do the trick!

I would have to check around here. I really have NEVER followed Illinois politics (I get depressed easily). Our firm has a lot of politicians and political connections. I understand Mike Gibbons (Republican - Missouri - Attorney General - Lost to creep from Kansas City) who is a really stand up guy (and a member of our firm) is trying to save the good guys out of this mess and find more good guys to step up. I'll keep my ear to the ground, but everyone knows I'm a Republican to the core (swear my mother had RNC tattooed on my rear at birth), so I can't always get both sides.

From what I’ve seen of Blago, he will only do that in exchange for a pardon.

Then we've got ourselves a game. In the words of Dirty Harry, "Do you feel lucky, punk?" How confident is Obama that he can survive BOTH Rezco and Blagojevich rolling over on him to save their own bacon? Any other prosecutor, and it might be worth the gamble. But then there's the problem of surviving the fallout of a pardon to these scumbags as his first order of business in a fresh new presidency. Decisions, decisions.

"I’ve heard politicos around town say the fall out from this is going to taint a lot of folks (guilty or innocent) at least in the eyes of the public."

This is a good thing as to the 0ne. "Just another politician" is what he is and the sooner the sheeple understand that, the better...

Somebody rolled to start with to let this go forward.

The Clintons have been awfully quiet lately.

Somehow, I think Obama and the Clintons are blackmailing each other while playing nice-nice at the same time.

If you are going to strike at the King, you'd better be able to make sure he's unable to get back up. If I were building my street creds in a corrupt environment, I'd play along until they couldn't stop me anymore — then I'd carefully make my move. IF (I say “IF”) the President Elect has any decency and he simply had to go along to get along until he and his family were safe and where they wanted to be, that's how I'd play it, but there is that IF, and the fact that I've never wanted anything the world has to offer bad enough to sacrifice my soul.

If Blago is smart, he calls on Hussein to give back the land next to his house that he received as a bribe at a 300,000 discount..... Then call it a sad day that Hussein refuses to give up the bribe money he collected.
