Four days ago, Roger Bredow uploaded a video to YouTube beseeching like-minded people to come to Washington, D.C. and stand with him outside the Supreme Court.
"[Barack] Obama was born a dual citizen," Bredow said, "British, and a citizen of the United States, at birth." This, said Bredow, meant that the president-elect could never take the oath of office.
And on Friday, the Supreme Court would read Donofrio v. Wells, a suit brought by a New Jersey poker player against his state elections officer, which laid out the charges in the hopes of nullifying the election.
Today at 8 a.m., they came.
"If I'm going to be honest with you," said Bredow, sporting a floppy American flag hat that he'd promised on YouTube he'd be wearing, "I thought I might be the only person here."
He had flown in from Georgia. The other fifteen to twenty people who cycled in and out of the small protest had traveled shorter distances—southern Pennsylvania, northern Virginia—but they felt they had to do something.
The "dual born citizen" claim is the latest (and maybe strongest) attempt by Obama conspiracy theorists to argue that he can't be president, but most of the people I talked to had questioned Obama's citizenship long before this.
"I first heard about it from Phil Berg's case," said Julie Menge of Williamsburg, Virginia, referring to a case that alleges, among other things, that a 2007 state of Hawaii reproduction of Obama's birth certification is forged, and that Obama's paternal Kenyan step-grandmother Sarah was in the room when he was born.
One protestor claimed that a mysterious Muslim imam blessed Obama's birth in Kenya, and that this fact would eventually be revealed, somehow. (He cited African Press International, a bizarre web site that claims it has, but will not make public, a tape of Michelle Obama ranting about racist media coverage of her husband.)
At 9 a.m., a black minister who would only give his name as Brother Pittman led a prayer circle and a recitation of the pledge of allegiance. Pittman, who lives in Silver Spring, came as a "representative of the Rev. James David Manning," a Harlem preacher who became an Internet legend for a February sermon in which he called Obama a "long-legged mack daddy" who was "born trash."
"I've been shunned by members of my own family," Pittman said. "I tell them, do the research! Go online and look up the facts! This is all about openness and why Barack Obama won't answer questions about who he is."
There's nothing new at all about small, strange protests outside the court, whether or not the justices are at work.
While the Obama protestors were praying, a group of 16 young Christians walked up to the other side of the Court steps, strumming a guitar and lighting candles before holding a pro-life prayer vigil.
Police and tourists looked on and a very small group of journalists grabbed the Obama protestors for interviews. "This story is writing itself," said a Mother Jones reporter as he filmed the prayer circle.
The Supreme Court will announce whether it will actually consider the Obama lawsuit as early as today and as late as Monday.
If (as expected) the Court tosses the suit, Bredow will start challenging Obama's legitimacy based on "foreign money that went into his campaign."
Other protestors said they'd start contacting members of the Electoral College. Steve Brindle, who drove down from Pennsylvania, said he'd called his senators yesterday.
"There aren't a lot of people out here today," said Brindle. "There are a lot of people talking about this back home. Really, everyone's asking questions."

I was talking with someone at the gym today about this and he asked me how Obama got a passport without a certified birth certificate. I couldn’t answer that one. Anyone know when he first got a passport and if it is possible to get one without a certified birth certificate?
I have a foreign birth certificate with a a Gov’t Form from the State Department indicating that I am an American Citizen Born Abroad (or something along those lines).
Yes, and you’re right about the passport (because we foreign born babies needed a passport to get home to the US).

Only the general election is over. The Electoral College election is not.
Thank you, Founding Fathers! This little time delay between the two elections is turning out to be most important.
If the winner of the election is not qualified to be president,the election would be nullified, and we would have a whole new election.
The Acting president would be Nancy Pelosi,until the next election is held, which would likely be next November.

If the election were not declared a nullity, then McCain would win by default, but I can hardly see that happening, if the court hears these issues. We would likely have a new election.
There is no provision for a new election in the Constitution. If Obama were declared ineligible after the electoral college certifies him, then Biden would take office on Jan. 20. If Oprah’s Choice were declared ineligible before Dec. 15, the electors would make their choices and could select anyone for president, but only Biden for vice president.
No such thing as a “special” presidential election
I will never concede his elegibility. The reason why is that he has concealed his true place of birth, and spent a million bucks doing it.
If due process results in his being found to be born in the USA , for example, Because THAT WAS DETERMINED BY THE STATE OF HAWAII AND WE ACCEPT HAWAII LAW FOR ARTICLE II AS A STATE RIGHT, ( rather than looking into his actual physical place of birth), that will result in a horrible future for our nation.
I will fight him clear down the line , just the way Bush was teated, and give Obama even more than the Dems have handed out to Bush.
He will NEVER be my president.

No; they are two specifications included in the case. The Court could rule that McCain -- as all Diplomats families offspring are -- qualifies as a 'natural-born' citizen, whereas Obama's Kenyan father negates his claim to 'natural-born' status.
However, Donofrio's case is not asking the USSC to rule on that point yet; he is asking the Court to mandate that the Secretary of the State of New Jersey verify the qualifications of the candidates before allowing the NJ Electors to cast their votes in the NJ Electoral College vote on December 15. The NJ SoS did not do that, and the NJ State Courts punted him off, so his only recourse was the USSC. Legally, I believe he will win, but I doubt it will make the NJ SoS disqualify anyone.

Donofrio claims McCain is not a natural born citizen because he was born outside the U.S. In order to rule against Donofrio, the court would have to agree that McCain is a natural born U.S. citizen because federal law correctly designated him one. That is, he is a natural born citizen because he was born of two U.S. citizens who had lived in the states prior to his birth. If the court upholds that part of the law then how can they overturn the other section that says Obama is a natural born citizen because he was born in Hawaii? Not to mention overturning earlier Supreme Court decisions that said that the nationality of the father in Obama's case was irrelevant?

Does he cite the specific New Jersey law that says she's required to do so?

I understand your statement,but believe you are missing one point. He will NEVER be my President either but my reason is the fact that EVEN IF he was born on US soil (Hawaii) he is STILL NOT a “natural born” citizen because his father was NOT a citizen. So I do not even need to see his original birth certificate. The COLB Obama released says it all. With his father from Kenya and Obama being born in Hawaii, just makes him a citizen but NOT a “natural born” citizen because his father was not a US citizen.
That is why Leo Donofrio’s case is so strong. Obama’s place of birth is only ONE of the criteria he must meet. The place of birth must be ON US SOIL. The OTHER criteria is that his parents MUST BE US CITIZENS. His father wasn't!
McCain does not meet both of the criteria either. He meets one, and that is his parents were US citizens. But evidence shows that McCain was NOT born on US soil. The only way McCain would be considered “natural born” would be if there is proof he was born on a US base AND if that base was deemed US soil. According to Leo Donofrio, that is not the case.
I do have to wonder why the RNC and McCain never brought up Obama’s problem of not being a “natural born” US citizen. The only reason I can come up with is that they knew McCain did not qualify as a “natural born” citizen either. I honor McCain for his service to our country and supported him. This feeling I have that he was complicit in this cover up makes me extremely disappointed in him and EVERYONE in our government who obviously knew. To think that so many would trash our Constitution is hard to deal with.
I have to trust that our Supreme Court Justices will uphold our Constitution and do what is right.

0bama could end all speculation by simply showing the birth certificate, just like John McCain did when asked the same question around the same time last spring.
so... what you really need to ask yourself is... why all the stonewalling? that in itself should give you pause.
It's not hard at all to figure out why Obama's fighting all these suits.
