-- Last weekend, 18 days after Barack Obama decisively defeated their candidate for president, a mostly Republican crowd of self-described conservatives received their first introduction to someone many prominent members of the GOP think could be the party's own version of Obama. [snip}
No less an aspiring kingmaker than Steve Schmidt, the chief strategist of McCain's failed presidential bid, sees Jindal as the Republican Party's destiny. "The question is not whether he'll be president, but when he'll be president, because he will be elected someday." The anti-tax crusader Grover Norquist believes, too, that Jindal is a certainty to occupy the White House, and conservative talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh has described him as "the next Ronald Reagan." Steve Schmidt is a loser, but like a stopped clock, he can be right sometimes.
In the case of Jindal, Schmidt is just looking for a job. He knows Palin would never hire him after his secret slanders against her, so he’s sucking up to the obvious other contender.
If Jindal falls for Schmidt, he will lose.
I feel bad for Louisiana. The democrats will make sure to damage it as much as possible as Jindal becomes more of a threat to them.
He is pulling Louisiana together. Things have improved a lot since he took over.
Crawfish pie is cajun, which is Acadian, which is French-Canadian.
Use a better analogy, like pizza pie.
Oh. Nevermind.
He was born in the US and he also is a christian. catholic I believe.
You are wise. Excellent thoughts.
I said what I said, and it was about voodoo!
And In truth, JFK wasn't fit to be president of this country and only was because his dad bought it for him.
The truth of the matter is that Governors Palin and Jindal...need to lead the states to reclaim state powers from the state-power usurping federal gorilla (government) and put this gorilla back into its constitutional cage.

That I agree with completely-—reform has to come from the bottom up- Can’t expect to change the culture from DC to the states, has to be vice versa. Whether it’s Palin, Jindal or whoever- I would hope they would carry the message of the primacy of the states.
Thanks- not an issue for me- someone else brought it up. I’m sure he wouldn’t run if he weren’t qualified. -:)
Hunter and Palin - yes.
Jindal isn’t eligible UNLESS both his parents were U.S. citizens at the time of his birth (according to Article II of U.S. Constitution). He is a citizen BUT not a natural born citizen, unless his parents were both U.S. citizens at the time of his birth AND he was born here.
Since voodoo is a cult of African origin, what does it have to do with someone of East Indian decent?
Sorry this is a mistake. Everyone born in the US regardless of their parents are natural born citizens. Any child of illegal aliens born in the US has the right to become president.
You are right. Jindal would lose the non-white vote just like white Republicans do. He may do it by smaller margins, but in absolute terms it may in fact be worse by the time he runs for President.
If Jindal proves himself as governor, then I would have no problem supporting him, but I can’t help but shake the feeling that many in the party are excited about him simply because he is not white. That in and of itself just goes to show what a demographic hole the GOP has put themselves in by refusing to reduce immigration when they had the chance. Starting with Nixon, or at least with Reagan, they could have corrected the 1965 Immigration Reform act, but they didn’t, and it is now approaching a point of no return.
Yeah, but that is certainly not what was intended by the 14th Amendment with regards to illegals.
That’s what I am beginning to suspect as well. Michael Steele is on record as backing affirmative actions, set asides, and all the big government intrusions that go with it. He is also fine with the Assault Weapons Ban stating only that he is against a ‘total ban’ of firearms, but for hunting they are acceptable.
I fail to understand the support that guy has either. It looks to me like the GOP, and too many conservatives think identity politics can work for the right. They cannot.
Yes!
Again, given that Governors Palin and Jindal, and the other governors, have more constitutional powers to serve the people than the Oval Office and Congress do, they have their work cut out for them between now and 2012 to reclaim state powers that have been unlawfully usurped by the renegade federal government.
But I suppose that if Palin or Jindal want to kick back and relax after 2012 after four years of restoring state powers, cutting the federal government down to size, that they can eventually put in their bids for the Oval Office.
Obama trumped Jindal. He may well never even run for president. Palin will be the next nominee.
In all the hand wringing about this most recent election people are missing the good news. In 1992 we not only had just lost, but had Bob Bole next in line to run. This time we lost with our equivalent to Dole. That makes Palin next.
A quick search only turned up that Jindal’s parents were immigrants.
So probably they were not citizens. (Possible, but not likely)
(Probably why he said he would not run for president, but would be running again for Governor)
Of course the media will try to make sure that neither Hunter nor Palin make the ticket...
We need to figure out how to stop them from hijacking our primaries, again.
“Any child of illegal aliens born in the US has the right to become president.”
Nope. Patently false.
I am pretty certain it was Blanco both times 2003 & 2007. As for the African-Americans, they would vote for a democrat in large numbers regardless of who is running. That is a long standing issue with me as to why they do it and why GOP does not do a better job of PR.
