ScienceDaily (Sep. 18, 1997) A team of 20 physicists from four institutions has literally made something from nothing, creating particles of matter from ordinary light for the first time. The experiment was carried out at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) by scientists and students from the University of Rochester, Princeton University, the University of Tennessee, and Stanford. The team reported the work in the Sept. 1 issue of Physical Review Letters.
Scientists have long been able to convert matter to energy; the most spectacular example is a nuclear explosion, where a small amount of matter creates tremendous energy. Now physicists have succeeded in doing the opposite: converting energy in the form of light into matter -- in this experiment, electrons and their anti-matter equivalent, positrons.
Converting energy into matter isn't completely new to physicists. When they smash together particles like protons and anti-protons in high-energy accelerator experiments, the initial particles are destroyed and release a fleeting burst of energy. Sometimes this energy burst contains very short-lived packets of light known as "virtual photons" which go on to form new particles. In this experiment scientists observed for the first time the creation of particles from real photons, packets of light that scientists can observe directly in the laboratory.

Bump for later
The scientist approached God and said, “Listen, we’ve decided we no longer need you. Nowadays, we can extract stem cells, clone people, transplant hearts, and all kinds of things that were once considered miraculous.”
God patiently heard him out, and then said, “All right. To see whether or not you still need me, why don’t we have a little man-making contest!”
“Okay, great!” the scientist said.
“Now, we’re going to do this just like I did back in the old days with Adam,” God said.
“That’s fine,” replied the scientist and he bent down to scoop up a handful of dirt.
“Whoa!” God said, shaking his head in disapproval. “Not so fast, pal. You get your own dirt.”
They didn’t start with nothing, but this is the first time a material particle has been created from light alone.
It has long been believed that matter-antimatter annihilation should have an opposite reverse of that interaction, but such had never been witnessed. That’s what this is, a very significant experiment.

Einstein has been vindicated?
(But we still will not get something for nothing as Obama has promised the World.)
Just make dang sure there’s not a fly in there, it could end badly.
And Ms. Nichols looks really good in that mini-skirt thing.
Thanks for posting this. I wonder how long until they will admit the connection of thought to light to matter?>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Particle experiment design has proven that this is theoretically possible.

Thinking of YOU!
LOL.
The universe is a very strange place and the power of prayer may be somewhat explainable, although not particularly believeable by most.
Dr. Jeremy Hayward has written a book about it.

I know the man BTW. No lightweight he.

Yes.
You've pointed out the fact that reorganizing is really all creation is.
When a carpenter creates a table, all he has done is modify and reorganize materials that already existed. It's a common, regular use and meaning of the word "create".
I believe the same meaning applies to the word in the Holy Scriptures.
Didn't someone postulate (think up) the theory of this experiment before they designed and tried it? Or did it just sort of happen by accident?

What i want to see is when they create matter out of nothing!
I remember that line from my Latin I textbook. Only I didn’t know God spoke Latin, which only came into being (on earth) a few thousand years ago. I was thinking he spoke Greek, or Hebrew or Sanskrit or Ursprache or French of something.
Thank you - that was one stupid, false lead....
“Earl Grey hot.”
Our earthly existence in not in His Image.
We ‘were’ made originally in His Image.
But we (Adam) chose to follow Satan, casting us into Earth and death.
But our (Adam’s) repentance, how sorrowful we (Adam) are of our choosing to follow Satan, has brought forgiveness in the form of a new Adam (Jesus) who is obedient, and who assumed an earthly existence to conquer death.
What remains in His Image is our soul, our life force, a spiritual existence derived from the Word.
It took me a long time to understand this.
Yes.
Cartoon; heh.
