Palin Innocent in Shopping Spree Scandal, Says Source
WOWoWOW ^ | 11/12/08 | wowowow

Posted on 11/13/2008 5:05:56 AM PST by TopHit

Article in an non-partisan fem website seems pretty believable, despite it being another anonymous source.

"Today, a source close to John McCain’s presidential campaign revealed exclusively to wowOwow that it was two stylists who often do work for CBS journalist Katie Couric who were hired by former CBS News political analyst and McCain senior strategist, Nicolle Wallace, around the time of the Republican National Convention. Wallace had worked for CBS Evening News until May 2008 when she left to work on the McCain campaign. Said the source, "They weren’t given any budget or parameters. They just told the stylists to work for her, because coming from Alaska, she needed a new look. She was a small-town girl who needed to look like a big-city girl."

Wallace is close friends with Couric. Couric would go on to get the second major interview and the longest television time with the former Republican vice-presidential candidate.

The two stylists, whose names have not been released, were the ones who bought the controversial wardrobe that Palin went on to wear. The source said that Sarah Palin "was used to wearing Ann Taylor and then all of a sudden, clothing was being brought in for her family." Concluded the source, "They simply picked out the clothes for Gov. Palin and told her to wear it. The stylists were told not to tell her how much the clothes cost but just to put them on." "

This just pisses me off that Mccain and his campaign are so stupid to hire these people. When is he going to learn that liberals are not his friends.....maybe it was all done on purpose.

One of his senior advisors said that if they used Wright they would have won. It was McCain's decision not to. The clothing "scandal" and post election leaks have shifted the blame of the loss onto Palin.

There's a second one?

Yes...claims that she went beyond the $150,000 and had staffers put charges on credit cards.

Palin clothes spree bigger than we knew

There's going to be an audit, though I doubt we'll ever find out whether this was all just made up by Newsweek, Fox News, The New York Times, etc.

Time and again the Republicans step in it by thinking that Liberals will put their politics aside and be professional.

Yes, she has a history of hanging out with liberals...

She was the Communications Director for Bush-Cheney 2004. She served as White House Communications Director and Counselor to the President for President Bush. She (and her husband) have worked on campaigns for Jeb Bush.

Why, the hell, is this even an issue?

I too have wondered why this was ever an issue, and why it remains one now. Palin and whassisname lost so why is she still being investigated by the press? Well, I think there are three reasons.

  1. Palin sells. People love or loathe her, and that sells.
  2. They need to destroy her for 2012. The press created a perception that she is a bubble head, they know it won't last so unless they pounce relentlessly now she will be back. They have a short window to destroy her, and they will take it.
  3. They would much rather write breathless gossip about Sarah Palin than cover Obama's past associations, backing off of campaign promises, etc. Magicians call it misdirection.

I’ll be watching to see if Wallace surfaces in another Republican Presidential campaign. If she does, I’ll cross that candidate off my list because he/she does not have the judgment to be President.

Just the expected reaction of the minions of Satan when faced with a righteous Christian living her life as an example that others know they should emulate.

Well whoever her stylists were, they made her look like Katherine Harris with all that makeup. WAY too much. Again, let Sarah be Sarah.

Why mention Katie and Wallace?

Stylists always spend as much as they can get away with.

Politico broke the story- apparently from public campaign expenditures.

Why mention Katie and Wallace?
Trying to stir up idiots?

How does that clothing compare with the millions spent on Obama’s bash in Chicago on election night? or the temple in Denver?

The question should be asked why would McCain and the GOP want sarah smeared out of politics?

Because she isn’t compromised, thus not controllable nor leverageable. They don’t want her showing up in 4 years and giving the conservatives the foot hold they worked so hard to destroy.

We also have to watch for Nicole Wallace’s husband. I read an article that her husband was one of Palin’s last minute preppers for the debate. I don’t think much is known about her husband but he may be responsible for some of this smearing.Who knows.

One of his senior advisors said that if they used Wright they would have won. It was McCain's decision not to.

It's looking more and more like McCain's "loss" was part of a prearranged deal between the two wings of the Republicrat Party - one that Palin wasn't necessarily privy to. 2008 was the Democrats' year, Hillary was scheduled to assume the throne in return for the Clintons' cooperation in knocking down the Gore campaign in 2000, but she couldn't hold up her end in the primaries.

As evidence, just try to find one substantive Administration policy change from the Bush years by Obama in the next six months on the issues of Federal Reserve governance, the Treasury Department's relationship with the money center banks, or Homeland Security policy. A lot of noise will be made about social issues and ANWR drilling, but that's all a sideshow to keep the sheep entertained. Watch fiscal policy and you'll see who really runs the country, and it isn't whatever joker happens to be sitting in the Oval Office.
