What grass-root organizations should conservatives join?
Vanity

Posted on 11/11/2008 7:31:07 PM PST by Ballygrl

I'm sorry for the vanity, but I'm really tired of sitting around complaining and I want to join a group to try to have an effect on upcoming elections, especially after seeing Sarah on Greta's show. I want to support Sarah and candidates like her. Dick Morris has touted The National Republican Trust, are there any other organizations out there I can support as far as time and some money goes? For the moment I'm done giving to the RNC, I'm kind of mad at how Sarah has been treated and would rather contribute elsewhere if possible to help out real conservative candidates, not Washington pinky out when drinking tea RINO's. I don't want to rule out not giving to the RNC in the future, but right now I'm mad.

Looks good but half of their links are religious orientated. I like to keep religion out of politics .

Any ideas bro? I’ve been asking on here for 3 weeks now if there is a group or if anyone is starting a REAL organization of patriots , aggressive and well funded , willing to fight for conservatism. I’m in NJ and willing to spend time , money, and energy to fight Marxism in America. We better move fast folks , we’re going down FAST! Please email me with any ideas anyone>

I think a movement will emerge...what we can do is start a thread on Freepers reviewing and rating the groups on an ongoing basis...perhaps one of those threads or group pings for a category..perhaps entitled “new conservative movement ping”.

MoveOn, Code Pink, PeTA and the ACLU - to destroy them from within.

Interesting angle.

Good question and great post.

IMHO, the RNC should be left to die. I’ve never contributed to them and never will.

Here’s why: They take your donation, remove their overly generous slice (gotta pay all them fat cats, ya know), and then take what’s left and distribute it according to their agenda.

I would rather do my own research, seek out conservative candidates whose views parallel mine and then donate directly to them.

I’d like to know how, if any, the fair tax is different than the flat tax?

I want to join a group that meets regularly, keeps track of the screw-ups of the people we have elected. Then send a list to all of the voters, telling who did what.

I have neighbors who vote for candidates just because they recognize their names. Maybe if they knew what these politicians were doing, they’re get a bad taste in their mouth when they saw their names on the ballots.

I’d be glad to donate time and stamps for that. It’s going to be up to us to inform people cause the media’s not doing it.

Yes, exactly, as they have done with our organizations (schools, churches, GOP, media, unions). And in parallel, use their rules for radicals. Go eye-to-eye with them. Follow Michael Moore and D-others daily with 'documentary' cameras for a year. Make outlandish claims from unidentified sources against their weak leaders. Protest everywhere, with instant-protest technology. Demand every key Democrat leader be impeached. Show aborted baby pictures every you can. Barrage the MSM constantly with letters, calls and emails. Give $$$ to our best warriors -- it is a war.

We need to be active in the local Republican party. We don't have time to start a new party. All we would do is split the vote. Look at our primaries....we had a bunch of good, electable candidates. So what went wrong? I think we had outsiders voting in our primaries. I feel we should be working for closed primaries in all states that currently have open.

Personally I cannot support a “Fair Tax” but I could support a “Flat Tax”. Fair Tax is like a consumption tax; Fair Tax is everyone paying the same rate.

I want more candidates like her....................

I envision a new conservative movement led by Sara and other gutsy (a quality severely lacking in the male population of the GOP) women like Jeri Thompson, etc.

In fact, I’m beginning to think that it might be our only shot at turning this around.

There are several differences but the most profound difference is anyone of the flat tax bills before Congress maintain the income tax code and the IRS. The Fair Tax will repeal all federal income taxes and abolish the IRS. No longer will you have to fill out any tax forms since you will be paying the tax every time you make a purchase.

Ah! Ok. But, how will the "fair" tax be determined?

WOW Lots of good suggestions. Here my 2 cents.

1) Locate a candidate in your district that you want to support and ask how can you help?

2) Call your local Republican Party headquarters and say you would like to volunteer. They can ALWAYS use an extra hand.

Some of the things you can do for 1) or 2) is

Stuff envelopes...boring...repetitive...essential

Put up signs during campaigns...fun for the out door kinda person (do you have a pickup truck or van?)

Make phone calls (texting anyone?)...this is not bad at all. The first time I did this, I was sick to my stomach at having to call strangers. However, I had a blast because they were all registered republicans and glad to here from me. The hardest part was getting off the phone for the next call.

Organize events...set-up or clean-up...get drinks, food, copies, whatever

Recruit...one...two...hundred

Donate money or supplies

You get the idea. Associating with fellow conservatives and republicans can be invigorating.

It has already been determined. The tax rate at the register will be 23%. More detailed information can be found at Summary of Recent Research on the FairTax Plan by the BEACON HILL INSTITUTE
