NOTE TO ADMIN MODERATOR: This story has been posted, but I hope you will leave this as a separate post. It took a few hours of digging, but I found this teacher. News reports were incorrect that she was in Asheville, NC. She teaches in Fayetteville.

What about all we have heard about zero tolerance for bullying in schools?
This was clearly a case of psychological abuse and emotional bullying of the very worst kind. This woman should NEVER be allowed to teach again.
This is child abuse.
I find it amazing that God is not allowed to be spoken or practiced in schools but a teacher can do this to a child and get by with it????????,,I’m appaulded to say the least!,,I pray this woman loses her job and is never allowed to teach /abuse children again!,,I have personally send this woman and email as well as the Counselor and the Admin ,,about this,,and I hope that everyone that this upsets does the same!,,If that had been a ‘white’ teacher doing this to a ‘black’child ,,she wouldn’t have been able to finish out the day!,,and things like this is exactly why I did NOT vote for Obama,,mark my words things like this will continue and even get worse and the sad thing about it is,,they will get away with it,,because god forbid,,when and if you call them on it,,’we’re being racist”!,,

Well, Diatha, as a parent and a former teacher, I was absolutely shocked to see what you did the the little girl whose family supported John McCain. That was child abuse. After a child says “McCain,” you say, “Oh, no, John McCain.” Another says “McCain,” and you say, using the Lord’s name in vain, “Oh, Jesus, John McCain.” Are you kidding? Are you nuts? That was just incredible. We saw you wearing an Obama button at school. What you did to that little girl is undoubtedly going to result in your butt being sued, along with your school district. You should be ashamed of yourself, but I know you are not. You have already been lit up on the internet. It is not going to stop. You have no business being in a classroom.
Mike Gallagher played the audio from this on his radio program today. I checked it out at his website www.mikeonline.com. Seeing the video was worse than the audio. My heart went out to that poor little girl whose daddy is in the military....
Whatever happens, DON’T FIRE THE TEACHER! Reassign her to a position where she cannot harm the children. I don’t want my wealth spread into her back pocket.
The thing I find most offensive is that she takes the Lord’s name in vain.

Hi, my son is a teacher in a neighboring school system in N.C. He is researching D. Harris now. Her full name is Lisa Diantha Harris from Ashville N.C. and she graduated from Fayetteville State University. She is currently teaching 5th grade in a Cumberland Co. N.C. elementary school. Cumberland Co. is the home of Ft. Bragg and the 82nd Airborne Div. In her resume’ her stated goal is to be the superentendant of the N.C. school system. I will post more as it becomes available.
It seems to me that the tape was not taken secretly. There are close up of the kids in it.
Another guess it that it might have been taken by a teacher in an exchange program.
I believe this was part of their documentary.
5th grade that makes the child 10, 11 at the oldest.

I just got the following replies from one of the school board members. I have pasted it below along with my original email to them.
We are aware of the video shown on You Tube. It demonstrates the action of one individual which is inconsistent with the values of the district. Our administration is addressing the issue at the school. Our Superintendent has posted a message on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9ta9XKQXgE) and the CCS Homepage at (www.ccs.k12.nc.us). You may want to look at that. Please be assured that we take this seriously and will handle appropriately.

I am with an internet news site and am writing in regards to the recent controversy surrounding Diantha Harris, a 5th Grade teacher at Mary McArthur Elementary School, who was seen in a documentary unabashedly pushing her political views on her class and a one point even ridiculed a young female student who’s father is in the military and supported McCain. The was an embarrassing display of a Teacher going way outside the boundaries of being an educator and protector of students to being a bully and ridiculously un-informed, radical partisan. This, as I have no doubt you will agree, has no place in the public education system.

I would like to know if you are already investigating this and if there is any news yet on exactly when she will be removed from the classroom where she is obviously a danger to her students. The Fayetteville Observer reports that Diatha Harris also said an internal investigation cleared her of violating state law or Cumberland County Board of Education policy.
